Bobby, Physical would win if it were vs. Why Do Fools Fall In Love. It would be appropriate since they were released a week apart.

Would be easier to vote for this if each album were up against the album the opposing artist released that year. Bad Girls would top The Boss & diana. would beat The Wanderer. Both artists win something that way;)

I chose these two as they were career peaks for both. Bad Girls against The Boss would have felt unfair as the latter wasn't a huge album. I love The Boss and The Wanderer, though.

As for Physical, I HAVE to find something to compare it too.:D Any suggestions for a big female album from 1981/2?

I voted for the first 6 of these but added two more Donna Summer's - Dim All the Lights and One Night in a Lifetime.

Diana's singles were great but her albums were patchy, in my view.

Bad Girls for me is much the better album, and maintains really high consistency given its double length . Probably her best album, and one of several good ones. The albums arguably don't get the credit they deserve, and have been overlooked by the usual Greatest Hits collections. A shame...

Definitely 'Bad Girls' for me. I went with the first five tracks and then 'Sunset People' from 'Bad Girls' and then 'Upside Down' and 'I'm Coming Out' as these are the only songs I know from the Diana album.

I need to listen to the Donna album again before I vote! When it comes to Donna Summers '70's, I only listen to the singles!

I don't think she had a big album in 1981/2, did she? I don't know if she had any big albums!:D

It would have to be a big top 10 album like 'Physical' was. I've never heard the CBS record. I'm sure it's very good, but I have no recollection of it.

Diana is my favourite between these two, but I do like both! Finally hearing the unreleased "Chic only" mix of Diana, made a great album even greater.

    Went with;

    Hot Stuff
    Bad Girls
    Walk Away
    Sunset People

    Upside Down
    Tenderness
    I'm Coming Out
    My Old Piano

The first 15 are by Donna Summer from her 1979 'Bad Girls' album

The next 8 are by Diana Ross from her 1980 'diana' album.

Hoping you do a "Aladdin Sane vs. The Slider" poll. Two of my personal favorites.

That would've been a good one!

However, I think I'll give the polls a rest for a bit. Trouble's-a-brewin'.:D

You are short changing yourself not hearing Bad Girls in full.

So true. It's a great record! Listening the for the second time today to all of it! Don't know why, but I think her following work 1980 - 82, is her finest!

I just played Bad Girls for the first time in a year and despite my love of the record I gotta go with diana. as it is stronger start to finish. I know some folks prefer the Chic mixes but I'm so thankful Russ Terrana and Diana remixed the disc. I think it made the difference between it being an okay seller like The Boss was and the sales juggernaut diana. turned out to be. Bad Girls is Donna's finest set to that point but there's an energy sag in this section of Bad Girls that I'm always tempted to skip....

Judging from the votes above it looks like some folks would tend to agree with me....

I agree. There Will Always Be A You, especially, is a total drag.

I especially loved the ballad side of "Bad Girls" (side 3), which had some of Donna's most soulful vocals.

Physical by Adam & The Ants was released in 1980. There you go, close enough.
