I just noticed that Red Trumpet's sleeves were no longer available. I'll have to order some from Bags Unlimited before they pull the plug...

Apparently, no one knows what a VRP sleeve is either...

Rice paper sleeves don't scratch the record, are anti-static and (I'm told) less prone to soaking up moisture.

Aren't those just rice paper sleeves that were made by Discwasher?

Undertow... I didn't see your original question, so I'm sorry if my response wasn't clear. It sounds like these are one and the same.

Are VRP sleeves still in production? The only ones I have came with my Beatles BC-13 box set... I like them much more than the sleeves I got from Red Trumpet last year.

Cool! I've been looking for these because my VRP stash is drying up. Thanks for posting about these ck. Bagsunlimited is a great company to deal with too.

I don't think the VRPs are still being made. I bought a bunch of packages at Tower when they were clearing them out many years ago.

Far as I know, yes. VRP was for "Valuable Record Protector".

The standard paper w/poly liner inside is thicker -- this has it's advantages and disadvantages -- but the paper tends to give me nasty paper cuts. The "rice paper" sleeves are a poly liner with paper heat sealed into one side. This makes it thinner, but not as stiff, as the paper w/poly liner sleeve. The "rice paper" IMHO are easier to use. Hope this helps.

Did any of you guys who ordered the rice paper sleeves from Bags Unlimited receive them yet? If so, how are they?

I had ordered a pack of 100 from Red Trumpet last year and found about 8 to be defective (too small to fit the lp). I also noticed some inconsistencies around the sleeves opening, where one side would be shorter than the other or where one side would just be lopsided from one end to the other. Not really a big deal I guess but where's quality control? Perhaps I just received a bad batch or something.....

I think they're fine. I've had no problem with them.

I actually ordered them about a month ago. I can't tell the difference between these and the VRP or MFSL sleeves, they seem like the same thing. So its all good.

I have used the original MFSL's, VRP's and RT's. That is the order I rank them in (best to OK) for quality control and easy of use. I may give these a try or the new MFSL's, they are about the same price.
