For example we have bands like The Raisins but, when Adrian Belew joined the band they recorded as The Bears or XTC recording as The Dukes of Strtosphear.

Any others you can think of?

Ron Dante was The Archies, the Cuff Links (a "real" band was formed later) and The Detergents.

Edit: The Detergents actually were a group with Ron on lead vocals. He also was The Chan Clan, but I don't know if they put out any records.

Tony Burrows fronted several groups simultaneously to make multiple assaults on the UK charts. He was the voice behind Edison Lighthouse's "Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes". The Pimpkin's "Gimmie Dat Ding", White Plains "My Baby Loves Lovin'" and Brotherhood of Man's "United We Stand" He also fronted The Flowerpot Men.

While there were touring lineups and the hits sometimes featured the bands' vocalist, oftentimes the singles released by Katzenbaum-Katz had zero connection to the band and could be credited to 1910 Fruitgum Company, Ohio Express, The Lemon Pipers or several other lesser known bubblegum names on the Buddah/Kama-Sutra labels.

Yeah, but those were after major lineup shuffles. Sort of like when Jefferson Airplane became Jefferson Starship, and then just Starship. In fact Mott eventually morphed into British Lions.

Bob Weir's Ace album is really the Grateful Dead.

Half of Jerry Garcia's Reflections album is also the Grateful Dead.

The Rumour backed a bunch of people, as well as releasing three albums themselves: Graham Parker, Carlene Carter, Garland Jeffreys, and probably some others I don't know about or have forgotten.
