Oasis. Except Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, which was so badly received it frightened them into going back to the formula anyway.

Viper the rapper. I think he's awesome, but he takes the cake - reusing tracks on multiple albums under different names and making multiple chopped & screwed versions of said albums.

Some terrible suggestions on this thread, if you don't have at least a rudimentary knowledge of the band in question's albums I wouldn't bother.

Good example of an album that disqualifies the Ramones from this thread. I remember hearing it and thinking, I don't like this, it doesn't sound like the Ramones!

The band Cake is very much tied to their low-fi, slightly fuzzed, horn-infused sound, and I love it.

Wait, are you saying here that Bob Dylan had a sound and stuck to it?

Nope. Clear, obvious changes from each album to the next...

Not saying it's a bad thing. But you know instantly via harmonica/vocal its BoB:)

:wtf: Seriously, have you actually heard their albums?

You can argue "The Clash" and "Rope" are pretty similar, but "London Calling" goes in a very different path, and "Sandinista!" blows it all up from there.

Honestly mind-boggling to think that anyone who's heard the debut and "Sandinista!" would think they're "the same album"...

Not saying it's a bad thing, but Rubber Soul was a quantum leap.

The 4 or 5 latest Iron Maiden are interchangeable.
To a certain extent, the by me very much appreciated Grandaddy (and/or Jason Lytle solo and side-steps).

Wait - you're arguing that REM, Springsteen and Dylan all made the same album over and over? :wtf:

I don't know if you misunderstand the thread's purpose or if you simply haven't heard any of these albums.

Crud, each of Bruce's first four albums were totally different - and those that followed weren't exactly clones, either.

Listen to "Nebraska" and try to tell me it sounds just like "Greetings"...

Another :wtf:. Not even remotely accurate that all Madonna's albums sound the same.

Some people wish she'd just remade the debut over and over, but she didn't.

I'm starting to think you're just naming artists without actually knowing the albums...

ALL have the same sound, same with John Denver.

True, but I think that there is a difference between having a distinctive/recognisable style and making the same album over and over. Yes, the early Dylan albums were fairly similar in terms of being voice, guitar, harmonica but he's recorded so many different styles of music and used different voices that I think it's unfair to include him in this thread.

No - "Rubber Soul" was an evolutionary step.

The Beatles never made any "quantum leap" albums. It's very easy to trace their development from album to album.

Even if one does believe "RS" was a "quantum leap", it's still incorrect to assert that the 5 prior albums sound identical. They don't - not at all...

Just my observation. But I buy most of these artists. Must like their sound.

Once more: have you actually heard these albums, or are you just going on hits? There's no way anyone who knows "Sandinista!" or "London Calling" or even "Combat Rock" would say those albums sound "the same" as the debut.

Crud, even if you simply go by the better-known songs, I don't see how you could make the claim. Does "Rock the Casbah" sound the same as this?

This couldn't possibly be more incorrect. Bruce and Dylan don't even use the same vocal style on their albums.

Not sure if you're simply unaware of these artists' work or if you're just trying to troll... :sigh:

It's perplexing. Even if you ignore Dylan's folk period and only look at his albums after he "went electric", there's an enormous amount of variety there..
