I wonder if that is planned as a final season. Thanks for the update.

I'm not gonna bother with spoiler tags, so read at own risk...

The latest episode was a bit of a filler, though it did set a few things in motion. For me, the most interesting parts were the B&W alternate reality start and end scenes, showing how things may have turned out if Hood played it differently right back in the first episode of season 1. It's especially poignant at the end where Siobhan is still alive and happy doing her job. Nicely done.

BTW, every time I see Siobhan (Trieste Kelly Dunn), I'm reminded of Roz Doyle from Frasier!

Yeah, those alternate reality scenes were nicely done. Was the actor playing the real Lucas Hood the same one that played the part in S1? He looked different to me.

What's behind Kai's sudden shift toward Rebecca? Crisis of conscience brought on by mother's death? I mean, he's still gonna run strip joints and casino's and sell dope, right? Even if he just wants to change their personal relationship, the way he humiliated her and dressed her down probably wasn't very smart givne his pending legal issues, as she can burn him. And probably will.

No, it's the same dude. In fact, and without checking, I think they replayed the same footage from season one (with the trough the hand shot) and made it B&W (of course, the alternate reality part was new :)).

The death of his mother may have played a small part, or him hooking up with a new sicko girlfriend, but I think the main reason is that Rebecca was getting too big for her boots, thinking that she could wield power without Kai's consent. She basically embarrassed Kai and had to be taken down a notch.

I love this show. It has atmosphere and great characters. Last weekends episode was brilliant, the ending in particular.

I really hope they end it (like they will Justified). Hood has this foreboding doom about him and it would be a shame not to wrap up his character in some way.

I don't think I've ever seen such a graphic head shot. I'm impressed.

Have you seen Breaking Bad? That scene instantly reminded me of a similar scene in BB.

As far as the Chayton storyline went, I wasn't especially impressed. His whole character just felt like a hamfisted insertion into the storyline just to be a one-dimensional muscley bad guy that could be used at various times to top up the fight-scene quota. There was never any doubt that he would be dispatched at the end and when he was, it just felt like a checkbox was ticked off.

Despite that criticism, I'm still loving this show and the whole season has been a thrill a minute ride!

Yeah, it kind of reminded me of Breaking Bad except that wasn't someone getting shot in the face. This was kind of "if we're going to show someone getting shot, let's make it spectacular". In the immortal words of Keanu Reeves, "Whoa".

Great new episode. Lots of moving parts including an origin story between Hood and Job, Kai going into full Terminator mode and lot's of pain all around. Banshee distilled to 200 proof!

I agree. I hated last weeks episode, and the whole Chayton storyline really, but I'm glad its done. Too bad there is only one episode left this season. I'm glad Sugar's okay. For a sec, I was expecting Hood to find him dead in the bar. I'm also glad they don't seem to be forcing Hood and Carrie/Anna together. At least for now.

Hey Banshee - fewer two man assaults on military bases, more gratuitous sex. Thanks.

I'm not sure how I felt about the finale. There were some interesting elements but also a lot of confected situations designed as a device for violence delivery. The very end scene seemed to foreshadow (or not) what's to come in the next season. Still enjoyed it, but it felt a little lazy compared to previous excellent episodes.

Errr I figured after the assault on the base, Hood would definitely skip town....errr.... Because he just assaulted a military base.... in broad day light.... not in disguise..... And with surviving witnesses. But instead he just mopes around town...... Ok??

Yeah. I guess he's counting on Job to somehow get a signal to him or Sugar letting them know where he is or giving some clue at least.

Never watched Banshee but brunched with Deputy Nina Cruz actress Ana Ayora in Pittsburgh this morning. She and the cast are filming in the area for a couple months. She and her boyfriend were so friendly and likeable, so I thought I'd pass that along in case any of you are fans. Ana is quite gorgeous, but still "girl next door" down to earth. Pretty cool morning!

He's so much of a psycho, it's uncanny. He'll just as soon cut your arm off as he is to water the lawn. What's scary for me is, I get him, he is loyal to his philosophy. :) :)

I like the way Mr. Proctor prepped the big Amish psycho's mouth before he pulled his teeth with those tongs. :D

  18. I've enjoyed the show. Interesting--my wife noted that the bones of the series is just like Burn Notice with different stuff built on top of it.

I kind of tuned out after the second season. I'm gonna be watching the upcoming final set of episodes but, honestly, just because Eliza Dushku is in 'em. If they turn out to be better than expected, I'll go back and catch up on the ones I missed.

I didn't know Eliza Dushku was joining the cast for next season. I've never really been too impressed with her as an actress. She was decent on Doll House, and I'm mostly positive on her, but don't think she's great. Probably a good decision to end the show with 4 seasons. 8 more episodes. S4 starts 1/29/16.

Just started watching this a few days ago. I'm up to S.1, ep. 5, good stuff so far. It's got kind of a noir-ish vibe to it that I'm enjoying.

Anyone still watching this? I wonder at times why I do but it's like Sons of Anarchy where I said, I made it this far... Really silly storylines & situations & over the top violence but it's still a guilty pleasure. One episode left I think.

Definitely still watching. I agree that it's very pulpy material, but there's something about the ensemble cast that makes it all hang together (even though I detest S4's addition of Eliza Dushku, who is simply a horrible actor).

But as well as being pulpy, the show also has some depth. I simply loved the long scene between Hood & Brock when they were locked up together and the conversation turns to who Hood really is. Such a great character scene.

The other thing the show does extremely well, is fight scene chorography. There have been some really amazing action scenes throughout its run, every bit as good as Daredevil, if not better.

A guiltily pleasure just about sums it up for me too.

I'll watch the finale on Friday, but I have to say I'm not impressed. Easily reminded why I gave up on this show in the first place.

So, they only brought Dushku on to be eye candy and to get captured so the guys can burst in and rescue her? That's just dispiriting. There's really no possible way they can come up with anything in the next episode that can either tie up all the loose ends or justify the time wasting pointlessness of this mini-season.
