Those episodes when they meet up with the two chicks from Mt. Pilot. What did one of them keep calling Barney? Was it Bernie?

One of the convicts keeps calling Barney "Al". Then at one point during the festivities, Floyd calls Barney by the name "Al".
Great episode, the last one before Howard McNear (Floyd) suffered a stroke.

Floyd was another great character on that show. Mayberry was populated with so many memorable & entertaining characters, I don't know that there's ever been another sitcom with such a large recurring cast.

Mountain Wedding... Ernest T kidnaps Charlene Darling - except it's Barney in a wedding dress and veil.

Ernest T: Say you'll be mine. Say you'll be my beloved-ed
Barney (pushing back veil): I wouldn't marry you if you were the last man on Earth.

TAGS (first five seasons) is my favorite TV show of all time.

So many great episodes to choose from.

Several of my favorite Barney moments occur during the Dogs, Dogs, Dogs episode.

Barney tries explaining to Opie how the numerous stray dogs he's just dumped out in the middle of a field (just moments before a thunderstorm) will avoid getting struck by lightning is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Watching Barney trying to convince himself they'll be fine is comedy gold.

The Darlings Are Coming is another favorite episode of mine, although Barney isn't in this one.

You really can't go wrong with most of the old B&W episodes from the first 5 seasons.

    You're talking about this:

My favorite is when Barney is inspecting the bank guard and is dismayed at how green his bullets are. He pulls his bullet out of his shirt to show the guard how shiny it is and the guard is very impressed, having heard of Barney's bullet but never thinking that he'd be able to see it. Scene starts at about 4:28

Let's see how good my memory is ...

There once was a deputy named Fife,
Who carried a gun and a knife.
But his gun it was dusty and his knife it was rusty,
Cuz he'd never caught a crook in his life.

The show was best with Barney on there. When his character left the show, it became a drama instead with unrealistic storylines (Aunt Bea learns to fly a plane).

Where Barney's on the phone reciting a love poem to Wanita and doesn't realize Andy's right behind him listening.
"Wanita..Wanita.." then Andy chimes in the rest of it.
