Bass Lines, Played On Any Song That Truly Grab Your Attention

Pink Floyd - Pigs (simmering and funky!) Especially the section between 4:13 and 7:10.

 

No offense but this album is a dog. No pun intended. What a come down after the two prior fabulous albums.

 

That's pretty great, I've never heard that before.

Funny that sort of bass playing used to be the norm back in the 60s/70s, influenced I suppose by the great James Jamerson. The drumming, too, used to be quite extraordinary.

 

That's a classic! Nicked note for note from Chuck Berry's I'm Talking About You.

Gary Thain's work on Uriah Heep's "Sunrise"

 

or R Davis on any number of jazz albums, with Eric Dolphy for instance. He was also Igor Stravinski's fav bass player, or so I read.

 

There maybe are also some notes taken from 'A Shot Of Rhythm And Blues' somewhere in the bridge parts of 'I Saw Her Standing There'... if I'm not wrong.^^

It takes about 2 1/2 minutes into the song. John Entwhistle stands up and takes charge.

 

I never realized how good this bass part is in "It's My Life" by No Doubt. Also great chord changes.

 

Paul Simon's "You Can Call Me Al" - bass played by Bakitihi Kumalo, a South African performer. Love that bass line - shines on the instrumental break.

In rock, imo almost any song with Andy Fraser. That guy knew how to lay it down and be melodic and draw attention.

 

They do sound pretty similar. Both in the Beatle setlist.
