Super documentary about Fairport Convention at the moment!
Followed by their 45th Anniversary Concert and the documentary "Richard Thompson - A Solitary Life", then Folk At The BBC. - no adverts.

A clutch of Tom Jones specials this evening (and Seasick Steve is a guest on the "BBC 4 Sessions" part). It's all followed by Classic Albums: Peter Gabriel "So".
Over on BBC2 there's a repeat of the (90 minute) Jools Holland Golden Moments compilation of appearances at the "Later" show.

y'know, we lived in the UK for 7ish years, and, tho it sounds silly, one of the big things we miss is British TV. Loads of documentaries, concerts, dramas....I'd trade my DirecTV package for SkyTV any day!

  14. Not silly at all, I missed British TV like crazy when I lived in the States.

Although slowly UK TV is getting to be much more like US TV, in terms of extra advertisement breaks and the dreadful onslaught of "reality" shows in a similar guise to US programmes like The Hills, Jersey Shore... ad nauseum.

The Bee Gees documentary was just great, I missed it the first time. The sibling rivalry was subliminally still there to the very end, judging by the body language of Robin and Barry. It was also evident all was not right health wise with Robin. This was first shown before his cancer was announced.

Same here. Fortunately we do get a lot of BBC and Ch4 programmes shown in Australia on our ABC and SBS, but not as much music as I'd like.

For those who can't get BBC4, just about all of these music programs turn up on YouTube.

Have they edited out Jimmy Saville? What about Dave Lee Travis? He was arrested only yesterday.
    10:00 - Sound It Out
This looks interesting. Its about the last vinyl record shop on Teeside.

    I know I started it.

In my house it is the yearly event 'Children In Need' on TV unfortunatly the Wife and Kids come first and I can't be fussed to set the spare TV up, i think I will just go to the pub instead :(

As it's about the singles charts and not Top Of The Pops or Radio 1 they hopefully won't be featured.

Yeah, Jim really fixed it for us. How many great performances are we going to miss on BBC 4 because Jimmy presented the particular show.
    And now Dave Lee Travis.:shake:
