Last year I was introduced to, and subsequently blown away by, the music of Guillaume Lepine, a Parisian musician who goes by the name of Any Version of Me. Guillaume has just released his third album, Wasted Sun, which features his Lennonesque vocals and Beach Boys-like musical sensibilities. Following in the tradition of home DIY'ers like Emitt Rhodes, Guillaume writes, records and sings everything you hear. He possesses an uncanny ability to create catchy, upbeat melodies which become instantaneous, though benign, ear worms. All fans of Lennon, Beach Boys and chamber pop in general can listen to the new album here: http://anyversionofme.com/album/wasted-sun Wasted Sun will be released in October for d'load. His first two albums, Backward Forever and Home Alone, are available for name-your-price d'load at the same link as above.
