I agree -- not Good Vibrations. That was apogee and not exactly representative of their image.

Your suggestions are on the mark, though I'd add I Get Around and perhaps Help Me Rhonda (the hit version).

And you're right about it being too tough to pick. They're all iconic.

It's "Good Vibrations" and nothing else is close.

  5. I have a question for you first. What do you think makes the Beach Boys signature?

My personal favorite (I'm really not a favorite type) Beach Boys song is "Sloop John B" but i would not call this a "signature" song simply due to lack of huge appeal.
The song is fun and energetic.
    The harmonies are superior.
    It tells a good story.

Their opus, God Only Knows....similar to A Day in the Life by another group occasionally discussed on this forum.

Good Vibrations was their masterpiece. For signature song I’d say Fun, Fun, Fun or Help Me Rhonda.

Are, it’s not favorite, it’s signature which means something that is the one song identified by the masses

I think in today’s world, I would almost pick a fun fun fun. The lyrics have become iconic. The fun fun fun is more popular than that yeah yeah yeah as in she loves you.

If you were to ask 100 random people on the street to name a Beach Boys song, it would probably be Good Vibrations. Out of those 100 people the number who could name any Beach Boys song would disappoint many of us here.

    Michael I LOVE WIDE S-T-E-R-E-O!

for me it's Don't Worry Baby....but I favor all the AM hits LPs as well.
    basically an impossible task...

This. Any other answer is surely a product of overthinking it or being contrarian. "Good Vibrations" is their most iconic song. Both diehard and casual fans love it. If the Beach Boys staged a one-song farewell concert, they would play "Good Vibrations," and no one would complain.

I immediately thought "Good Vibrations", but when you mention the Beach Boys, the average person's first thought is "surfing", so maybe it's "Surfin' U.S.A.". It's one of those two.

The top played song on Spotify is Wouldn’t It Be Nice, and it hasn’t even been mentioned yet.
