And you'd be absolutely correct. It brings a completely new dimension to the song. You'll play it over and over along with the other cuts on the lp when you purchase it. I know I will for sure.

Sounds really good. Always loved that song, with a bit more production that could have been a good hit single.

Totally agree. Even with the much better audio, the arrangement has always been a little half-baked (pun very intended) - imagine what a good RnB band of the time could've done w/ it.

Brian wanted it to sound this way. I love that quote by Carl: "Wild Honey was music for Brian to cool out by."

    Personally, I wouldn't change a single note.

I always liked the Live In London version, maybe because I knew it before I heard the studio version.

What a terrible stereo mix with a fuzzy soundstage. Did they use digital extraction?

It sounded better on the YouTube upload they posted earlier. Wait 'till you get the CD.

I think this was mentioned earlier in the thread! Something like they couldn't find the tapes and had to use this resource.

No, it was someone speculating, based solely on what has been available on bootlegs.

There was only one song that was unable to stay stereo all the way through - "How She Boogalooed It" - and they chose to not extract but instead switch to mono during the solo.

"Mama Says" retains its original mono mix.

Actually, it was probably me. What I said was based on what was stated by Mark Linett and Alan Boyd from a few years back. At the time it was believed that either a) tapes were missing and b) Tapes were re-recorded over after it was bounced.

I think they may have dug a bit deeper and found more, like the mono reel for "Live in Hawaii?"

I'm sure they did find more. They would have had to, as the majority of songs (at that time) could not have stereo mixes prepared.

NPR posted the stereo "Aren't You Glad."

I am not a purist, and I really want to and try to like this things, but this mix just sucked.

Why is that? I had the opposite reaction. It is clear, there is nice stereo separation, The vocals sit nicely within the musical space.

I would have liked the organ to be more prominent in the mix. Otherwise it sounds good. All the Wild Honey tracks are very sparse in instrumentation so separating into stereo can make the sound very thin. The more vocals the better and fuller the sound in stereo will be.

Glad to hear the horns better.
