Yep. Every changed around for "dra-ma-teek purposes". That's why I usually hate bio-pics. "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" pretty much killed the whole genre. Or at least should have.

Mike might not be the only one incorporating Wild Honey tracks into his show. Check this recent soundcheck video at about 2:50....

More like 2:30. Brian mentions the disco remake. Thats pretty funny.

This is fantastic news. A box set would be most welcome as well. I really enjoy listening to the Beach Boys' outtakes, alternate mixes, and odds & ends. I remember buying the two-fer CDs and really latching onto Wild Honey & Friends. There is something about the Beach Boys late 60s work that always resonated with me more than anything else from that period. It's going to be pretty exciting hearing Wild Honey in stereo. A deluxe release in stereo & mono with some extra tracks would be pretty nice.

I just got a press release regarding the tour. It doesn't actually say anything about the Wild Honey album or whether they're playing any tracks from it (other than naming that as the tour title). It does spend a full graph on Stamos being involved. If I were John Cowsill I'd be ticked off.

How did I miss this thread? This is my 2nd-favorite Beach Boys album. I'm stoked for a big 'ol box. Don't disappoint me, Capitol!

If I had the money and time machine, I'd go back in time and find a way to buy SOT from Murry...then sell it to Brian for a dollar. Oooh, wouldn't that chap the old man's hide :)

Brian would have turned around and sold them for coke in 1982.

I need a clean copy of it since my old thrift store vinyl LP has too much snap, crackle and pop, but although quality matters more than quantity (and it is a marvelous album), I can't see paying the exorbitant new vinyl price for a 23-minute album. I'll probably just get the Smiley Smile/Wild Honey twofer CD.

That's like The Beatles' "Don't Let Me Down" when John sings: "And from the first time that she rEALLy done me". Always loved that "imperfection".

I have a higher tolerance for contemporary remixes than many folks here, but I completely agree with you on this one.

According to a post on the Pet Sounds forum, the latest issue of ESQ magazine says that Al: ""revealed there is an upcoming two-disc set centered around Wild Honey, with additional material recorded by The Beach Boys from 1967.""

Good old Al! Spilling the beans again! So I guess we should assume it will be a "Party Sessions-esque" type release?

They should do this for every album. Well...the good ones at least. :D

I'm thankful we're getting anything more than just the original album, but I hope the 2 disc set has new stuff on it. I feel like Wild Honey could be a bigger set. I wonder if the 2CD set will be one disc mono, one disc with the new stereo mix, and a small amount of "additional material". Maybe there will be a deluxe release as well, that seems pretty normal these days. Standard CD, deluxe package, standard vinyl. It's been a long time since I had my nose buried in Beach Boys history so I can't remember everything they recorded while working on Wild Honey- or in 1967.

It would still be really cool to see a new mono vinyl release too.
