After Sunshine Tomorrow came out, all I ever hoped for in this year-end set would be the Honolulu live shows. Well, we got those plus the rehearsals and a ton more, so I'm very, very happy. :goodie:

I didn't think "Aren't You Glad" ever appeared on a single anywhere, but doing a search I find that it did indeed appear on a Portugeuse EP in 1968! Was this a unique mix that slipped under the radar??

Correct - I was told that they used this opportunity to fix a couple of mix oversights in the version of “Aren’t You Glad” that was on Sunshine Tomorrow.

Do you know why the "screechy" organ during the "let the bees make honey" section of "Let The Wind Blow" is missing on this new stereo mix? It's actually missing on the 2001 stereo mix, too.

It was bootlegged in the 1990's from an acetate. An unknown female vocalist singing over the Beach Boys original backing track. Supposedly a friend of Bruce Johnston's. I had it on a cassette provided to me by Brian's former personal assistant way back when.

    She has a pretty voice.

Allegedly, "Amy" is Amy Holland, wife of Michael McDonald. From her Wikipedia page:

As a teenager, Holland moved to Los Angeles, California, in hope of making a career as a singer-songwriter. At the age of 15 she auditioned for the Beach Boys' Brother Records, but after the company folded, she signed with Capitol Records instead.

I just listened to the Past Masters CD, 1980 Capitol LP, 1967 UK LP and the 2001 CD and I hear it in every version. Where I don't hear it is on the 2017 Stereo mix.

Yep, you sure do... for the mono mix. Both stereo mixes lack it. You can baaaarely hear it in the right channel on the 2017 mix.

Misread your post. Saw the 2001 and thought mono 2-fer and missed your stereo reference, meaning the Hawthorne set. Sorry!

I don't hear it on track 25 of the sessions either. I wonder if this was a mono overdub and not on the work tapes?

That's what I'm wondering. Slap some headphones on and listen to the right channel of the 2017 stereo mix. It's very, very quiet, but it's there. There is no way Mark would not include it if it was readily available on the multitracks. There has to be a reason. A mono overdub would make sense.

So Sunshine Tomorrow 2 is £12.99 on iTunes....
    £9.99 on Google Play
    Live 1967 isn't out till Dec 29th - but shows £0.99 each for the 109 tracks....yikes....

29th Dec sure smells of Copyright Extension
