FWIW, my set, which I got in the first wave from Amazon.co.uk, says "First published in Great Britain in 2013 by Little, Brown."
Nothing about reprinting. Pages are smooth as... Well, you know.
My Chinese copy has a 200 page supplement entitled "Stuff we had to take out about Paul because the author is mean." It also smells foul and makes my head hurt.:tsk:

I'm in the midst of it and find it really fascinating. Goes into so much detail on the early years before they became famous worldwide. Ends at the end of 1962..... Funny how I came across the book.... I sometimes think there are no coincidences in Life.... I was at a local bookstore watching my boy do a Christmas program and whilst they were setting up the Beatles song HELP! entered my head loudly.... I had a mental jukebox listen and marvelled at how great that song is... it captures you immediately and holds your attention drawing you in with ever note.

So after my boy finished I browsed and there an the table was the brand new Biography by Lewisohn. Of course I bought it without even thinking twice. I mentioned the fact that I was hearing a Beatles song crystal clear in my head before even being aware the book was there.
But wait, there's more! So I get the book home and went to the index and noticed a little chapter at the end. It was Lewisohn asking anybody and everybody for any Beatles contacts or information that they knew of and gave a website link to go to in case.

I happen to know somebody who was employed by The Beatles as their Apple studios house drummer. Peter Clarke who grew up in Liverpool and was in a band called The Escorts and who met The Beatles at The Cavern (there is a photo of he and Paul back in the day chatting up some girls in the Caver at The Beatles museum (he was thrilled when I told him about the photo). Anyway he later was hired b The Beatles and was there at Saville Row employed full time. He has a ton of stories too. (afterwards he played with Kiki Dee Band and then toured with Badfinger in 1979 and played with a lot of legends too). I met him because he is now a finish carpenter and I hired him to hang some doors for me. I knew nothing of his past and at first was skeptical until I verified it all.

So I go to Lewisohn's website and the link he gave for information is called HELP!
Spooky since that was the song in my head before I saw the book!
So I sent Lewisohn the info on Peter and he responded back to me. Hopefully he can contact Peter and get some stories for his next Volume.

There is a multi-part thread at this point most likely, but to answer the OP question in this thread I did pick up right after Christmas using a gift card I received. So it is sitting there in my stack of about 10-12 books in my "to read" pile and I hope to get to it soon. Too little time!

  14. This is about another Beatles biography ("Shout!"), but I know several people here will know the answer. It mentions times like half-seven and half-eleven. Does this mean a half hour before or after the hour? Or something else?

Wiki says it means thirty minutes after the hour: half seven is 7:30.
    Half eleven is.....Bueller? Bueller?

Correct. Do Americans not use that term? I always say 'dinner will be ready at half 8'.

We say that as well. I suppose 'half 8' is just a shortening of the sentence.

Just finished the book last week and now I am in withdrawal. Very entertaining and can't wait for Turn ON, my assumption of a title for part 2.

But In German it means 7.30 (halb acht) so bear that in mind when they are in Hamburg ;)

It's confirmed upthread that the title has nothing to do with Turning On or Dropping Out.
