I'll definitely be excited to open my set and dig in. Unfortunately, that'll be Valentine's Day since my wife has successfully converted this from just a regular purchase to a "gift purchase".

 

My box just passed through Jacksonville, where the entire abandoned Capitol plant turned over in its grave.

 

I can relate only too well, sir! It was not easy sitting on the stash of new CDs that we had bought between August and November, but had to be set back for Christmas. (Of course, it was a pretty magnificent Christmas.)

Luckily, I have enough gift cards that I got from relatives for Christmas to pick this box up, so that particular holiday door swung in both directions.

 

I wonder if I'm getting clipped signal because I'm going directly from my X3's lineout into my AUX input of my car stereo.

 

Ok...does the individually released YESTERDAY AND TODAY have the sticker or is it only in the Box?

About D/A to A/D conversion- I think it is possible for very slight sync issues to appear. I'm not familiar with the equipment used for this release, but the converters with which I am familiar have clock signals that are very good, but not perfect. Each converter will need an electronic clock signal to trigger sample conversion at the correct rate. Perfect synchronization would only be achieved if the D/A and the A/D converter both used the same clock signal. I doubt this would be the case.

In other words, I don't think very small sync differences are a sure indication of going to tape and back.

Yes it's in the list. A bolded song followed by RED means it is a unique mix that has been overlooked. GREEN is included.

'Remix' means 1987 remix, as noted at the top of the list.

For two minute songs it would have to be a REALLY bad clock. I'd say broken.

Anyway that would only apply if the signal stayed digital when going from one machine to another AND they had differences in clock. And you would never do that. You'd sync up the machines.

Even that is hard to believe. If a digital source was used it would most likely be a PRO TOOLS rig. And after treating the analog signal it would be recorded back to the same rig. No difference in clock there.

 

I asked a few pages back, but just so it doesn't get lost.... Can anyone determine if the polarity of the stereo Revolver cuts is what's considered correct? I know the 2009 stereo remaster was criticized for apparent incorrect polarity.

I just lined up the 2 mono versions of 'What Goes On', and they sound almost in sync, but they were off by 14 samples at the end. So it's a TINY difference.

 

At that price, I wonder what they used it for.
