I am really enjoying the new mono LP box... For those of you that own the red vinyl LP's and the new mono's, do you plan to hold on to the red mono's?

    Michael I LOVE WIDE S-T-E-R-E-O!

I had all the Red Mono Japanese early 80's pressings. I though they were fabulous.

Bob, I think any serious collector will hang onto his 0r hers red mono's. They are part (and a very good part) of Beatles history, why would you not keep them.

I have gotten to the point of selling stuff I am not reasonably going to play. Not keeping collectables just for the sake of collecting. I sold all me EAS LP's earlier this year. I am thinking very seriously of selling my AP set. I own original Parlophones, the UK mono box, the new mono box, and the awesome mono CD set. I am just thinking that I can imagine pulling out these red LP's...

Bob, I know I should know this, but what are EAS LP's and the AP set? (I hope this memory lapse is just due to it being early morning and I just woke up. :sigh:)

I had all the different Japanese red vinyl lps. The '82 and '86 I found very different from each other, but at this distance in time (20 years or so) I can't remember which of the two I preferred. The original '60s red vinyls (and early '70s, too) were superb.

I just interviewed Michael Fremer last night about the mono box and he mentioned he might sell his Japanese monos. I should be able post later today.

    Keeping my 82's.
    1. Because I spent a fair amount of money on them.
    2. Liked colored vinyl.
    3. My own jury is still out on whether the current 2014's beat the Japan Sgt Pepper & White Album.

I know I'll get a lot of hate for this but it would be nice if people just used and 's' when they were making plurals ... like LPs, CDs, monos etc. :D

Peter, I found the opposite. I have for a few Japanese red mono records both the '82 and '86 pressings. I find little difference between them. According to Jason Anjoorian's book on the Japanese Beatles vinyl the '86 pressing was a simple reissue of the '82 albums. There was no remastering for the '86 reissue. This subject was hotly debated in the past here as to whether new lacquers were cut for the '86 pressings or whether they started with existing metal masters or existing mothers and made new stampers and started pressing again.

When you refer to original '60's red vinyls are you referring to Japanese pressing (there were many red vinyls done in Japan in the 60's) or other red vinyls?

The difference between the '82 and the '86 pressings in the deadwax are "M" and "D". Must be different cuts I think?
