So are we all clear on the different Japanese Prices and versions that have just been explained by a kindly Japanese forum member? Perhaps I should cut and paste for people?

You missed all the excitement over the different Japanese box sets - that was touch and go there for a while - parachutes opening, people bailing out and then back in - need a lie down now :)

Yeah, I'm exhausted; 11 discs, 14 discs, what the...?

Locked into the Amazon Japan Version 1 now also.
In our part of the world it works out at $38 cheaper on current exchange rates compared to my earlier pre-order with Amazon Canada.

Yes no more mono-ing from the Australian contingent until our State Treasurers confirm from Sept 1st a lowering of the import duty threshold to $20, and the subsequent imposition of 15% increase of GST on them! ;)

I'm sure it will, but not as I joke from this September. Perhaps next year? They need the cash so it's a no brainer for them. But don't worry I'm launching the Vinyl Imports Party (VIPs) next Senate lol. ;) Move over PUPS!

Im hoping Canada will undercut everyone again and go down as low as $299 - they did it with the Stereo box - equal rights for mono :righton:

I think you are stirring things up! I already asked in the last thread if there were ANY differences at all regarding labels. Everyone seems to think not as it's a worldwide release all pressed in your neck of the woods lol! ;)

What are you saying? That the LP's originally issued on the Apple label are going to be on what? Parlophone? That would actually make them more collectable - seen what a Parlophone WA goes for? - I hope they do that would be excellent :agree: but I'm assuming they will be as issued in the stereo series - B&G PPM, B &Y from WTB to SP , Capitol rainbow for MMT and Apple for the WA.

No I'm just saying what ever country's has the apple/parlaphone logo on the vinyl may be more desirable for the collector. Now if all the country's pressing have tbe corresponding parlaphone/apple logos tben no probs, I guess. Then there's tbe case of some country's mastering sounding better, and other variables to consider.

Have you been following this at all o_O all the vinyl is being produced at Pallas, sleeves and all. The mastering was done at Abbey Rd. There are no variables - there is no UK version or US version - all the same - they learnt their lesson with the stereo's.

    IIRC, it's Optimal, not Pallas.

Here you go, the same Abbey Road Studios mastering for the world, and all pressed by Optimal in Germany:

"In an audiophile-minded undertaking, The Beatles’ acclaimed mono albums have been newly mastered for vinyl from quarter-inch master tapes at Abbey Road Studios by GRAMMY®-winning engineer Sean Magee and GRAMMY®-winning mastering supervisor Steve Berkowitz. While The Beatles In Mono CD boxed set released in 2009 was created from digital remasters, for this new vinyl project, Magee and Berkowitz cut the records without using any digital technology. Instead, they employed the same procedures used in the 1960s, guided by the original albums and by detailed transfer notes made by the original cutting engineers.

Working in the same room at Abbey Road where most of The Beatles’ albums were initially cut, the pair first dedicated weeks to concentrated listening, fastidiously comparing the master tapes with first pressings of the mono records made in the 1960s. Using a rigorously tested Studer A80 machine to play back the precious tapes, the new vinyl was cut on a 1980s-era VMS80 lathe.

Manufactured for the world at Optimal Media in Germany, The Beatles’ albums are presented in their original glory, both sonically and in their packaging. The boxed collection’s exclusive 12-inch by 12-inch hardbound book features new essays and a detailed history of the mastering process by award-winning radio producer and author Kevin Howlett. The book is illustrated with many rare studio photos of The Beatles, fascinating archive documents, and articles and advertisements sourced from 1960s publications."
