I think Sinatra did what he wanted. He did it "his way!"

George spoke an intro to Frank on (I think) "Far East Man" on the Dark Horse album and dedicated it to Frank, saying something relating to Frank's misidentification of the writer of "Something". That's a pretty good validation of the story. Some Beatle nut here must know the exact words that George said...

"this is for Frank Sinatra...we love you, Frank, and we hope you include this one on Caesar's Palace, and your next live album".

GH sang "Something" the way Sinatra did:

"You stick around, JACK,it may show".

These aren't "Beatles" photos but I like them because they really give a sense of that era without the Beatles themselves having to be in the photos. And.. I never really knew where to post them before, so...:D

  16. #389 strikes me that The Beatles, as uniformly mop-topped, clothed and all as they were in the beatlemania years, had four, very distinct looks. All but Ringo had a heavy English chin, but that's it. The four of them had very distinct features. I wonder if that played a big part in their charisma (beside the music of course) and what Zappa referred to as "teen appeal"... The Rolling Stones dressed wildly, but 2 or 3 of them sort of were of the same ilk physically. The Who even more so! Just a thought.

I think the picture of Paul with the bare stomach was taken on the Mad Day Out photo shoot day. They went to a place and tried on a lot of costumes.

  25. Here are some image taken by Stephen Goldblatt during the Beatles' Mad Day Out in 1968. I helped edit a limited edition book of these photographs a couple of years ago. Stephen has been a DP for many years now, shooting the films like The Help (not the Beatles film) and Julie and Julia amongst others. Some great images. Some you've seen an other maybe not. This one with Lennon in the forgeround is my fave. You can see more at my blog at http://manhattman.com/2012/mad-day-out.
