Beck - "Colors", new album in October 2017*

Looks like maybe this was cancelled, according to the listing at CDJapan.

I assume there's little interest of music awards around here, but if anyone cares -- this album won the Grammy for "Best Alternative Music Album".

 

What? No Kanye drama this time around?

I thuroughly enjoy this album. So much that I bought a second copy, the 2 LP 45rpm at the local Bullmoose for 50% off. Have not cleaned or spun it yet though. Both have Chris Bellman in the deadwax.

That's tempting - this album's DR numbers for the vinyl are vastly improved over digital. Thanks for the heads up!

 

i do not enjoy this album, but that is a great deal and i might give it another shot.

Sorry if I missed it, but has anyone compared the single LP to the 2 LP 45 RPM version? I really like the album (I've got the single LP in red), and if the 2 LP 45 RPM version is higher quality in pressing quality and in sound quality, I'll give it a shot!

 

They didn't cancel it but I think the Japanese labels are more accurate when they call something "limited". I ordered and received it a while back and it's a nicely done set.

How's the DVD?

 

Just got my ticket!

 

I usually have a pretty good tolerance for overly-loud/bright cds. but this one was off the charts. I didn't mind the music but needs to be toned down big time.

 

Looks like a nice release. It's a bit of a shame that the video is a DVD instead of Blu-ray. I've got to imagine that it was recorded in HD.

 

Just gave it a listen, planning on buying the reduced 2 x 45 - but oh dear, too middle aged MOR Pop for me. Where's Sea Change 3?

 

It's well worth seeking out. It's a very nicely shot anamorphic widescreen presentation and the performance was excellent as well. They authored it with PCM audio and it sounds great with Dolby Pro Logic II decoding.

They'd be dumb to not do a wider release of this show on blu-ray with the additional five tracks performed:

I just tried to cash in my download card from the indie store vinyl but when I follow the address it says "webpage not found". The card says valid until 10/13/2019. Have I been hornswoggled by Beck Inc.?

 

Finally got around to listening to this album properly today. I really enjoyed it. I dismissed it after an initial listen when it first came out as just trying to hard to sound current. What an idiot I was.

A great pop album. A definite go to album for treadmill.

 

Yes, it's a great party album. Very upbeat. I enjoy it quite a bit.

I have to say -- this album has aged for me really, really well. I dislike "Wow" the most, but it's fine. I wish that there were a bit more "weird" Beck in it, but "Dear Life" scratches that itch pretty thoroughly. The rest is Beck's take on contemporary pop, and it really works. A killer record. Can't wait for what's next, with "Saw Lightning" and all the rest.
