Let´s forget all cynicism and hope that we get more deluxe editions of their great albums, and maybe even some hi-res releases on SACD? I know, dream on...

But it would be great if they continued the reissue campaign that Warners started - in addition to the "GREATEST HITS" compilation we all know is coming.

Any shot of getting an official version of Maurice's "The Loner"?

I never bought the 74-79 box. I wonder if I should.....or wait to see what they come up with.

That 74-79 set was a devastating dissapointment...

Nothing in the way of unreleased tracks...

    BAD cover design...

NO booklet with listening notes to put the albums into context... No extra photographs / interviews / essays...

Bonus tracks which have been released previously.....

    NOTHING new....

It was SO half-assed.... Like a budget-price reissue label had been in charge of the project....

I think there could be a market for some unreleased recordings from the "Main Course" through "One" era but am dubious that anything on either side of that 15 year run would have much mass market appeal outside of die hard fans such as us.

In retrospect, it looks like those box sets were basically Rhino's (or the group's) effort to "run out the clock" on the contract, and release something quick-and-dirty to cash in before the arrangement ended, since it was obvious no one was going to invest a lot of work into full-blown deluxe reissues of anything.

That's what it certainly looked like. As a completist I was tempted but I'm glad I passed. I would guess we will see some nice vinyl editions. You would think if the genious label heads think they are going to sell vinyl editions of, oh...lets see...Ghostbusters II in the marshmallow pack, Meco, and some other ridiculous titles that are still sitting at my local vinyl store, I would hope they would see some merit in the Bee Gees catalogue.

I hope that Capitol/Universal market the product well and not just drop them into the market like Warners did.

Nothing specific. Just heard from some insiders that there's an enthusiasm to continue examining the Bee Gees back catalogue and this new contract will enable that.

I hope this means we'll get a few archival releases ... as opposed to just more repackagings of the same 22 songs.

A legitimate, remastered DVD release of the live 1989 show in Australia (from the "One For All" tour) is long, long overdue. They never looked or sounded better than they did on that tour.

We have the show on CD now, as part of the "Warner Years" boxed set, which is great ... but the only way to watch the video of the concert is via laserdisc or VHS. (The are various "imported" versions of the show on DVD, but they clearly seem to be knock-offs of the short-lived DVD that MPI put out and then withdrew because of major defects with the sound and video.)

I ripped my laserdisc to DVD-R a while back, and while it's watchable, it's nowhere near as good as a properly mastered DVD would be.

I second this this sentiment. Furthermore, I'd like to see Two Years On and Trafalgar get Deluxe Edition CD treatments that they richly deserve. It seems like I have been wishing for this to happen for what seems like forever.

Ahh....go on either Amazon or Ebay and your wish will be granted! The laserdisc is awesome...the DVD was terrible. About a year ago I was just hunting around and saw it had been remastered for DVD. Let me say first that it now sounds at least as good as the laserdisc, which is to say, fantastic. It is in Dolby Digital now. But....I can't be sure it is a legitimate release. The cover seems a bit funky....I was sure it was a bootleg. However, I opened it and the disc and art on the disc sure looks legit. I popped in the DVD and it has the correct Dolby logos and everything else looks legit. But I sure never heard about an official release. If it isn't authorized, someone with the right tools went through a tremendous amount of trouble to do this, for something that I doubt will sell that many units. Anyway, if you see it buy it without hesitation....you will be able to replace you laserdisc easily. I just couldn't believe the difference. And no, it isn't a laserdisc dub!

Your copy "looks legit" but has a "funky" cover ... That describes just about every version I have already purchased "without hesitation," only to be burned!

Is the one that you have one of the following five (!) different releases, four of which I have already squandered money on, or is it some other variation not pictured below?

The show on the laserdisc was one of the best concerts I have ever seen! I have been waiting for a remastered DVD, or a SD-Blu-ray would be even better! I´m not saying I would kill for a copy, but certainly maim... :shake:

Yeah, I love the double-CD of that show, which came with the Warner Brothers box, but I have hung onto my transfer of the laserdisc audio because it's a different mix. (The difference between the two is most obvious in the way the vocals are treated in "Ordinary Lives.")

Anyone who hasn't purchased the Warner Brothers box just for that double-CD live album should do so now before it goes out of print. It's available from some outlets for as little as $17.

The double-CD live set really deserved a stand-alone release. It's a great performance and beautifully recorded ... unlike, say, "Here At Last... The Bee Gees Live."

My digital-audio transfer of the "One For All" laserdisc, recorded directly from laserdisc player's output to Minidisc.... For the cover art, I even tried to replicate the gold-foil sticker that was used on the original vinyl release of the "Here At Last!" live album.

    Obsolete media rules!

I guess the good news is it's none of those. First, and if I knew how to post photos here (I hear it's a pain so I'm don't want to go there) I would...There is a 1" by 1 1/2" photo at the bottom left side of the cover, and a text box to the right of it, of the three brothers from the album cover One. The first line saying "ONE FOR ALL marks triumphant live return of the Bee Gees...". No, I didn't miss a word after "marks triumphant"...I just noticed that. A pretty clear sign it's a knock off I guess. The thing is, the disc itself has all the hallmarkes of an authorized production. It is professionally silkscreened and looks lovely. The bottom half is in tan and shows a picture of them like the one on the cover, but if it's a knockoff it was very, very well done. It has the Dolby Digital logo, and it certainly is encoded as such. I don't know how in the world they could take the old DVD or laserdisc, import it, do all the work that was done, improve the picture quality when it wasn't recorded for a DVD release in the first place, and improve the audio so much. I'm wondering if this is a legitimate overseas release, and these guys just bootlegged that disc? I don't know, but since there doesn't seem to be a legit version, assuming this isn't, this would for me suffice over one. Some other cover clues you can look for: It has a legit box on the back/bottom that shows the typical info: 1.33.1 aspect, Dolby Digital 5.1, Running time (and this is very suspect, and wrong: 60 minutes...it actually is the entire program so I am guessing they got this bit of info from the VHS tape of one volume...that of which I used to have as well), and there IS a barcode...the numbers are 8 809154 125322. The cover was designed by "Fou You Communication" and the producer on the bottom of this project is noted as Tomorrow Film. So, a lot of this suggests a boot, but I also think it's possible they copied a limited remastered overseas release. Either way, the disc itself is as good as it's ever going to get. You're already in for all those other copies so I would go in one more time and pick this up since you are clearly as big a fan as I am! Another forum member mentioned a while back he couldn't find one, so if that is still the case you may need to check periodically. I an almost positive I got it off of Amazon. Let me know what you find!

My sentiments as well! A lot of professional effort was put into this; I was at that concert and it was very well done to begin with. Their music is such that it needs sweetening, and they had three really good female backup singers that really enhanced the music. The laserdisc is very, very well mixed (as is my new DVD version) and mastered and is probably the best of my pretty big collection of concerts I own. I LOVE the shot of Robin looking at the close up cam that is at the foot of the stage. I don't know if he was flashing a smile at the camera man or us, but it is a very nice personal touch as you rarely seem something like that. I am SO tired of the quick cut type of edits of concerts...what's the point of watching a band just to see a face for one second and then have it cut away. Drives me totally nuts. I hate that about a Mavericks DVD I have. I want to see the lead singer singing, and the emotion in their faces. That's impossible with modern editing. This concert was very tastefully editied, and highly recommended for even the casual fan. I remember this being one of the very first DVD's period ever released, and it clearly suffered as they were still finding their way on how to master this stuff. Avoid the original DVD...it even sounds bad.

Though I have this, I haven't seen that copy...very nice!

Edit: oh...stupid! Didn't notice you had made this yourself...should have noticed the Mini Disc art as I do have one. Lovely work!!!
