Could someone point me to desirable LP recording of "Swan Lake?" Sonics, of course, take precedent.

Performance should take precedent, shouldn't it? Who cares about the sonics if it's lackluster?

True. How about a happy medium?

The 1961 'highlights' recording by Fistoulari on Decca is very highly regarded, but it's not the full ballet. It's cheap though, so worth a listen. Recorded by the crack team at Decca.

    Nate-O-Phonic I didn't get a Harrumph! outta that guy...

I really liked this one back in the day. One of the first recordings of the full ballet. Recorded in 1969, my copy was on Angel/Melodia, and was a 3 LP set. I liked the sound, but the pressings left something to be desired, some of the sides had really audible rumble (you could see the vinyl wasn't as smooth on the other sides). My friend had a copy with the same issues in the same places. It was on CD but I missed it. All hopelessly outta print. A great performance:
