Has there ever been an artist with so many different albums and styles as David Bowie? My first tastes of him were thanks to my older brother, who first played me "Young Americans" and "Hunky Dory". For some reason, he never had "Ziggy" or any of the other earlier albums, so I'm guessing that he must have found Bowie himself, near the time of "Young Americans". Strangely, just as soon as Bowie captured my interest with "Hunky" and "Young", he just as quickly lost me with "Low", "Heroes", "Scary Monsters" and "Lodger". At the time of those albums being released, I just wasn't ready or mature enough, to appreciate the "art" of where he was going. Looking back now at Bowie's catalog, I find that he was clearly "way" ahead of his time and I'm still not sure if his time has fully arrived yet?

If only one Bowie album makes it through the apocalypse - well, it should be
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

What a huge musical loss. What a class act to go out with an iconoclastic and great album.

I do have favorite albums but I agree that it is fun to rotate David, especially given all his changes. But I still go back to Hunky Dory and Ziggy the most; even though I also especially love Low, Station To Station, Young Americans, Aladdin Sane, Heroes, and Lets Dance.

Lodger. Perfection: not a single missable second, my favorite by a country mile. Outside is a close second, though!
