...for music (of course).
Oh, my favorite is 1927-1937, but that's right in the middle, so I don't know really. They were all amazing in their own ways.
I suspect the 60s will triumph in the end, but my vote goes to the 90s.
There are two for me...
I was born in 1968 and grew up in 70's and 80's. It is music from those two decades that I still listen to the most... and always will.
I voted for 70's.
Most of that period falls in the 30s, so you could vote for that if you felt like it.
My fave period seems to be '67 through around '80, so I have to go with the '70s overall.
If I could pick any 10 years in a row it would be 1964-1974 but within this polls parameters I choose the sixties.
not really - I pretty much agree (although I'd say 25-35) but you can't leave out the 20s!
big spike around 1940, too, and another one from 58-63
Yeah, I find the '27 through thirties pretty awesome. And I think that went right on through the '40s.
My "Golden" period straddles two decades - 1965-76. For me the early sixties were saturated with insipid, wimpy, middle of the road material and the late seventies marred by the advent of punk.
'64 to '70 then '77 to '84
Better way to define it for me is Beatle Years and punk / post punk.
Tempted to go with the 80's because there were so many great singles, but still, the 60's wins.
My favorite is probably the 70s (or the 90s), but in my opinion the 60s were the best, which is why I voted for them.
70's for me by far...
1920's, for sure.
Like others have mentioned, it is difficult to pick one decade. For me it would be 67 - 76. But, I went with the 70s. The early 70s was the age of FM underground radio which was a favorite for me.
I voted for the 60s, but to me the sixties started about 1965-66 and lasted into the early 70s.
50s and 60s for me. I went with 60s on the poll, simply because the Beatles & Beach Boys meant so much to me growing up.
In terms of popular music, look where it was in 1960 and how much it had evolved by 1970. You can't deny the overwhelming impact popular music had during this decade. It was pervasive and became a true agent of cultural change.
No contest. The '60's.
The best decade was the 70's but my favorite is about 67-77.
Of course I was a teenager in the 70's.....
I voted for the 20's with the 30's a close second.
While I find The Beatles to be THE best of all time, and they existed primarily during the 60's...
I had to go for the 1970's. Song for song, the 70's pretty much rule overall. Course, I'm probably biased, simply because my teenage years were all during the that decade (born in 1960).
While there's PLENTY of room for discussion, I just feel the Seventies have the edge.
every decade had good stuff. i'd say 1920-1967, was my favorite musical part of the century for the most part.
