OK, bit of a dumb topic, but I was wondering if we could come up with some good singers who didn't really stick with one band, but sang with a number of different ones.

    For example:

Paul Carrack (Squeeze, Mike and The Mechanics, others)
Chris Thompson (Manfred Manns Earth Band, Night, others)
Terry Wilson-Slesser (Back Street Crawler, Crawler, Charlie)

Joe Lynn Turner seems to be a vocalist for hire. I always thought he was a great singer.

Also Paul Rodgers - Free, Bad. Co., Firm, Law, solo, etc.

    Does Rod Stewart count?
Before the bulk of his career as a solo artist, there were the Faces (Big and Small), the Jeff Beck Group and Python Lee Jackson.

    Hi,

Roseanne did a hell of a job with the "Star-Spangled Banner". She should qualify as "freelance".

A long time ago, but Meat Loaf did some amazing vocals on Ted Nugent's Free-For-All

How's about the lovely Darlene Love? She showed up on a whole lotta great songs in the 60's. Ron Dante is another great voice on many 60's hits - maybe a comp on stuff from these folks would sell well...
