Yes, and arguably their parts had a lot to do with making that record a hit.

I didn't know that about Roy Harper singing Have a Cigar. Thanks for educating me and I'm being serious.

The collaboration between Max Webster and Rush on Battle Scar (from MW album Universal Juveniles) is a cracker!!!

  9. I always liked when JD Souther sat in with the Eagles. New Kid In Town is a good example.

What? Noboby mentioned the Gallagher brothers handclapping on The Verve's History yet? Wouldn't be the same song without 'm

Neil Young playing a stinging guitar solo on The Monkees song ‘You And I’ from their 1969 album ‘Instant Replay’.

David Crosby was supposedly wandering around near A&M's recording studio and Hillman grabbed him to sing high harmony on Do Right Woman by the Burritos. I also dig Cass Elliot's vocals on the Electric Flag's Grovin is Easy.

I'll add Roy Harper again - this time his BBC session singing "St Thomas" (Sonny Rollins tune) with The Nice.

Wouldn't say that was odd or impromptu - she was B.O.C. keyboardist Allen Lanier's girlfriend for several years before that, she had written lyrics for three other songs by the band at that point, and supposedly she'd been asked to join as a member before her own recording career launched.
