I love that whole mid to late 60s period, but I've gotta go with the Village Green Preservation Society. There's just a special pastoral charm to that one, a great one to kick back with on a lazy summer evening. . .

Mirror Of Love is in my top 5 Kinks songs, so I can't knock the album for that alone.

I keep going back and forth between Face To Face, Something Else, and Village Green. Today it's Village Green.

Village Green Preservation Society and Sleepwalker to pick from different eras.

I'm on the same page. Tough to pick one 'best' Kinks album.

Just based on the number of listens, I'd probably go with Muswell Hillbillies, then Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One, but I love all the rest of the LPs you listed in your post.

Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One, and from the 80's, Word of Mouth.

LOLA VERSUS POWERMAN ON THE MONEYGOROUND is probably their best album, IMO.

Anything from Kontroversy thru Muswell Hillbillies is solid gold, throwing in The Kinks Are Well Respected Men and TGLKA to fill in the gaps. Kinda Kins has some great material too, but then so do all the other albums really...

    I usually say Arthur though.

Like others have said, the run from Kink Kontroversy through Muswell Hillbillies is is all classic stuff and stands up against any other band's great run of records. If I had to choose, It would be a draw between Face to Face and Something Else.

I'm partial to Muswell Hillbillies, but could make a case for Village Green, Arthur, or Lola as well.

Yes these would be my Kinks hat trick also. I'm probably one of the three people on earth that bought all three of these LP's on original release... except for the other 100 aliens that inhabit this forum. :p

And my trivia for the day: Village Green was released on the same day (in the US anyway) as the White Album, by ... those other Brits. :D

It's a good thing I had the extra four bucks or so in my pocket when I made the trip to the store for the White Album !
