Hey, I just stepped up to 1080p. Let it rest, Sony!

I'm coming out of my system in single-link HD-SDI and then feeding the Teranex, which regenerates the HDMI signal and effectively bypasses HDCP. Not sure what I'll do if and when I have to master and monitor in 4K, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

See the few 4K titles selling used pretty cheap now. I'll might just get a few titles as they come with blu ray discs as well.

A lot of them do give you a UHD Blu-ray plus an HD Blu-ray and a free "UltraViolet" download as part of the package. I just bought a UHD Blu-ray player this week and have ordered a handful of titles -- we'll see how they look.

I almost went with the Sony 800, but then found out it didn't support 4K Dolby Vision, so I went with the LG UP970 instead, which does. Cost no object, I would've bought the Oppo UDP-205 or 203. I suspect this might be the last physical media player I ever buy (sadly).
