    Hey folks.

Picked up the 2012 LP reissue. Plays flat, clean, but the bass is WAY out of whack to my ears. Very boomy.

Any tips on the best sounding version of this great LP?

    Thanks.

Good reading in the other threads if you run a search. The Speakers Corner reissue gets universal praise. I couldn't find one for a few years but copies recently started popping up on MusicDirect I believe

I find the 2012 reissue's massive bass to be an issue too, but I still like the pressing.

The two prior threads cited above are both 10 years old, no need to have apologized.

    Hi Marc.

I must admit that after repeated listening to this great album I have come to live with the boosted bass.

I agree that overall, the quality of the reissue is excellent.

Yes me too, though I'm keeping an eye open for a clean original to complement. The reissue's bass is truly massive, but it's clear, not boomy or muddy.

It's a great recording so it would take some work to **** it up. My faves are the US and UK 1st presses. They sound incredible.

This is one LP that always sounds like it was mixed by the bass player.

BMG did do a number on it by boosting the bass so much, but it's still listenable.

It doesn't take much- the bass is already huge on the originals

I have a UK first pressing and its an incredible "Hot Mix". There were more LP releases that can be classified as a hot mix's besides Led Zeppelin II with the RL/SS copy. The UK Transformer with orange label is one of my best sounding records.

I think this has been repressed lately. It's really great.

I just put on my Speakers Corner pressing, it's now long time ago I listened to this- I had forgotten how good this beast sounds. I must spin this one more often. :agree:

I don't think anyone boosted the bass on any reissue. The original UK press is way bass heavy, unlike the cds.

It looks like there's a remastered vinyl reissue coming out on Sony Legacy, on November 17th. Hopefully this release will correct the issues with the 2012 version.

I don't have any other vinyl to compare it to, but so far it sounds great to my ears. Clean, flat pressing. Seems to replicate the original packaging pretty closely, from what I can tell. Has a 2016 copyright date on the back. Says made in the EU.

The "original packaging" was pretty barebones.

"Berlin" was a more lavish affair.

Ha! It's actually a pretty thick slab, maybe not 180g though. Plain paper sleeve.

I'm a little curious about how this new reissue sounds. I've three different vinyl pressings of this album, the RCA International green label, the Simply Vinyl and the Speakers Corner- they all sound great but the extra nod goes to the stunning Speakers Corner reissue.

The Original US is great...I always thought it was bassy too. I need to look into a reissue as mine is pretty well worn.
