Got a bottle as a Christmas gift. I’m going to invite some friends over to finish it off and watch some films. What movies would be appropriate for an absinthe fueled good time?

Finish it off? How many friends do you have? Absinthe is pretty intense. When I've tried a bottle or two in the past, I only have a few fingers over ice.

The first film that comes to mind for me is "From Hell."

I think a small party of five or six (seasoned drinkers all) should be able to drain a full bottle over two movies (@3 hours) without anyone dying.

When I was younger we used to mix it with NyQuil, but now that we’re all in our early 40s that’ll probably just give us irregular heartbeats.

The only time I've ever drank Absinthe, my friend passed out beside my toilet and I watched the first season of MTVs The Real World on VHS until dawn. Good times.

Basically, it really doesn't matter what you watch... you're gonna come away with some interesting ideas about it, regardless.

It's too bad that what passes as absinthe today is not the real thing.

Melvin Van Peebles' "Don't Play Us Cheap." I love it, but absinthe would help.

I'm no expert but I think some varieties are more authentic than others.
