Now that we're a month into the new year, seems like a good time to start talking about the best new releases.

I'll go ahead and nominate Father John Misty's I Love You, Honeybear. Coming out on 2/10 via Sub Pop.

It's a different animal than 2012's Fear Fun, but the lush production and wry humor makes it a clear early contender for Album of the Year.

The early front runner for me is:

    Bjork - Vulnicura

with Gaz Coombes - Matador a close 2nd.

A much better album than the last 3. This is fantastic.

Haven’t heard too many for 2015 yet but I’ve got Manson as well so far.

Panda Bear vs the Grim Reaper is terrific and is my choice so far.

Bjork Vulnicura I like already and can't wait to listen to it in a higher resolution than mp3. I have a feeling the strings will sound much better.
I'm hearing a lot of good things about Sleater-Kinney although have only heard a couple of songs. Looks like one to pick up.

I second that emotion!... I love the bonus tracks in the deluxe version, too...

The two best for me so far this year are

    Panda Bear

    Sleater Kinney

    Both in beautiful vinyl editions

I've been really digging the new Disappears Irreal LP, which isn't surprising since I loved their last 2 LPs and the Kone EP. This one's a bit different - super sparse...sounds like the soundtrack to a yet-to-be-made sci-fi dystopian film.

Also really liking the Viet Cong Viet Cong LP which was bouncing around late last year but finally got a legit release.

The two songs from Hey Colossus In Black & Gold that are out on Spotify are really good - looking forward to that release later this year.

Belle and Sebastian easily, followed by The Decemberists.

Is that out already vinyljunkie??? I thought it was a Feb release?

EDIT: OK, just Googled and saw NPR has it streaming, off to check it out, thanks!

Just received the new Punch Brothers today, "The Phosphorescent Blues"... I'll be listening tonight hopefully.

It's the only new 2015 CD so far for me, I've bought a few pre-2015 titles though.

Liam Hayes - Slurrup (he strips off the sheen and creates a melodic 60's/70's record full of earworms)
Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear

I agree. I'm not a serious Manson fan and haven't bothered with the last few albums but this one caught me totally off guard and is getting a lot of my time.

I thought Sleater-Kinney set the high so high at the beginning it would have been hard to beat it this year. But then Bjork. Vulnicura is still slaying me with each listen.

I do have high hopes for the Father John Misty as well.
