Hell yeah. I missed the ep when it was released originally but this is great, rockin' stuff, not a wrong step in the lot , and the covers of songs by Kesha ("Blind"), Elvis Costello and (especially) Prince are perfect. Slides into my top ten with the greatest of ease. Lydia rules.
I also nominate this for album cover of the year.

My #1 is still Laura Marling's, a weird one: I don't even like every song on it, but the ones I do like I love a lot.

I picked this up on a whim (yellow vinyl, extra 7", on prominent display in Rough Trade) and I think that it got released at exactly the right time of year. I've never really listened to Dan Bejar outside of his work with the New Pornographers, but this is just superb. New Order meets The Blue Nile.

Same here, outside of New Pornographers I haven't listened to Bejar, but this is mighty impressive. I'm getting more of a New Order/late period Roxy Music/Bowie vibe from it, but this is fine stuff nonetheless.

You have much to discover, then. I actually like Bejar's work as Destroyer better than his New Pornographers tracks. Note that his earliest records are considerably less smooth in approach.

I know he has a deep catalog, and I guess I'll take 'em in reverse order once I let this one sink in.

Totally unsurprisingly, my vote goes to St. Vincent's new album "Masseduction" as well.

Another vote for Curtis Harding's Face Your Fear. It's got a bit of everything, and is a real stomper in places.

A good year for Soul ~ Curtis Harding, Stone Foundation & Paul Weller have released my three favourite records of 2017 so far.

I’ve been listening to a lot more classic Curtis Mayfield as a result - a year of very positive musical vibes despite what’s going down in the real world!
