Not sure, but chances are it is (or was?) made by Rega, Naim, Epos or Wharfedale.

A good friend owned a matched, mint condition pair of JBL L300 speakers that he purchased while serving in the military in the '70's. I asked him to keep me in mind if he ever wanted to sell those beauties. To my pleasant surprise in 2004, he told me he would sell them to me. I jumped at the chance and that was the best decision I have made regarding my music enjoyment.

    My whole Sansui rig. Everything.

... and I only 'lost' $1300 due to faulty eBay equipment!!

All's well that ends well, and it's ended real well. :)

(Only 8.5 years to find this 'stuff'. Mission complete.)

The first Macintosh computer years ago, the iPhone today. In hifi, the best purchases Ive made have almost all been the most expensive. The Lyra Atlas cartridge, the Pass Xs300 mono blocks, the dCS Vivaldi and the AVID Acutus SP. On the inexpensive side of audio; the Pass Aleph 3, my current pair of Acoustat 1+1s and the Denon 103R.

Recently bought a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon which helped me realize music can get better than just listening to FLAC files through my comp going straight to headphones (AKG K550s)

While a VPI RCM is on my list I'd have to say that for longevity and pure enjoyment I'd have to go with my Conrad Johnson MV-45 power amp. I bought it nearly 30 years ago when it was still a young pup, love it still and it is now worth considerably more than what I paid to boot.

I regret not purchasing a pair, these were among the best- just never sold well enough.

Music-related? That would probably be when I finally stepped in the digital portable music world and purchased my iPod classic~6 years ago. For me that was a huge game changer to be able to have my entire music library in 256k quality sound easily accessible at all times without having to fuss with lugging CDs around. I've been able to enjoy sooooo much music that I haven't in years because I was too lazy to deal with getting the CDs/carrying them/changing them out.

A Behringer DEQ2496 Digital Equaliser. The best £250 I've spent on Hi-Fi. I don't care what anyone says!

    1. Audio Research LS17- this linestage was the injection my system needed to lift the sound to the next level.

    2. Okki Nokki- an affordable RCM that really gets the job done.

I thought for sure you would have included your beloved CJ MV50.

Have you thought of using a set of stacked Quad 57s with that rig?

Subscribing to this forum... wait that was free.

It was the switch to using my AVR just as a preamp for stereo and getting the Quad 909 power amp a perfect fit with the Wharfedale Jade5's and my ears.

Realistic LV-10 (rebranded Koss HV-1) headphones. Bought them when I was like 10 and they were miles ahead of any of the speakers or headphones that I had heard up to that time. That was the genesis of it all. If I don't buy those headphones, I probably don't end up where I am today, having multiple copies of the same album on multiple formats in order to find the best mastering.

So maybe that was my worst purchase? :D

Yes I have! And also KLH Nines which are a natural pairing. However, due to space constraints I am sticking to my Chartwell LS3/5A's. The midrange rivals the quads IMHO.

Just a week ago I purchased the Onkyo TX-8050 stereo receiver from Amazon Japan through a japanese client. It was $218. Haven't received it yet... I just hoped we can evade customs :sigh:

This 2014 model can process DSD (and by network connectivity!)

Lately. Squeezebox Touch music server in 2010. Seems longer ago. Have had a lot of fun with this for $300. Still going strong.

  25. Same here, I got a 103 last Christmas, and a Bellari HA540 tube headphone amp. Previously I was plugging headphones into a 10 year-old Toshiba DVD player, so the difference was amazing, to say the least.
