I am not in the camp of the XRCD bashing that goes down here. While its true that Steve's DCC's sound more natural when compared to their counterpart XRCD's, in almost all cases, the XRCD's I own sounded much better than their previous versions (again except for those DCC Gold ones). That being said, my favorite XRCD's are: Chet Atkins in Hollywood The Tatum Group Masterpieces Bill Evans: Sunday at the Vilage Vanguard
Not to be critical with you Kayaker...but have you heard the MFSL aluminum 2 CD set of Chet Atkins/ Chet Atkins In Hollywood? There my friend is a very natural great sounding version of Chet.
Did not know that even existed. Thanks. Guess I've got to start trolling ebay. I heard the Classic Compact Disc Gold CD a few years back and remembered that it sounded pretty good too.
Listening to the XRCD of The Eagles - "Hell Freezes Over" - right at the moment. I bought this one from a fellow in Canada who saw me bidding on one of these on eBay (I lost) and he offered it to me for $33 shipped. It does sound extremely good, but I'm playing it on my new SACD player, and it's way better than my Sony SCD-333ES so I can't say which is making the largest contribution to the improved sound. Superb packaging on a timeless album. Regards, Geoff
I'll second this one!Secret of the Andies is my favorite of the two. Both are excellent sonics and playing. iIwish they would put out the one that Kevin Gray did for Cohearant Sound, In My Pocket.
