For those interested, Neal Preston was recently on Marc Maron's WTF podcast.

Mick Rock as well as a well-known Grateful Dead photographer (forgot his name) was on Dean Delray's podcast (Let There Be Talk). Dean may have had other photogrophers on as well. Great chats and stories.

This documentary is highly recommended!! It's a really interesting look at rock photography of Bob Gruen. I'm not sure if the doc is available on DVD, I saw it on Cinemax a few years back. Unfortunately Vimeo has it in 4 parts, but do yourself a favor and watch it - awesome stories of photographing John Lennon, The Clash, Lou Reed, Bowie etc...

Surprised no one has mentioned Pennie Smith. She certainly took one of the greatest photos of all time and helped document the look and style/ mystique of the Clash:

I don't think it is possible to pick one photographer and say he or she is the best, but Jim Marshall gets my vote.

Has no one mentioned Herb Ritts yet? He’s got a traveling exhibit from the RnR HoF that was hitting various museums across the country last year.
