I want to say $20 Sack Pyramid because it still makes me laugh and I can still rattle off the bulk of the skit for no good reason, but reason forced me to pick G Thang instead.

Tough call, but I went with "F*** Wit Dre Day".

To me, this was the birth of hip-hop. Sure, there were others making this kind of music, but Dre & Snoop put it on the map.

Rap was already big when this album came out (NWA, Public Enemy), but those artists focused on beats and spitting out rhymes. The Chronic got musical, with a 70s soul vibe - kind of like Isaac Hayes. Using laid-back music to tell stories about growing up on some mean streets. Landmark album.

No votes for Gangbang or High Powered. Not surprised. I'm not a fan of RBX at all myself, although Stranded is still decent but that's probably more to do with Lady of Rage than anything.

Grant Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me!

"F*** wit Dre Day (And Everybody's Celebratin')" is my choice.

This was hard call. Lil' Ghetto Boy for sure though. Because of lyrics. In terms of production Nuthin but a 'G' Thang wins it though. Great album overall, if not the best ever. Love it all way.

Arguably the most influential pop album of the past 1/4 century.

    Lyrical Gangbang

Although Stranded On Death Row is very close if not tied.

I really like the Lady of Rage!

Let me ride over G thang. g thang is the one you want to love but it never hits me as hard as the idea of it does.

...voted “Let Me Ride”, but I dig it as a whole. Remember seeing the spiel in the back about Snoop’s upcoming Doggystyle album. Couldn’t wait for that to drop and definitely was not disappointed when it did. Good days!

Does anyone know how I can tell if the album is the original 1992 version or the crappy remaster? And for Doggystyle and 2001 as well?
The original is done by Bernie Grundman, right? Does it state that on the CD cover?

Nothin But a G Thang seemed like one of the most emulated songs and beats for a while, stylistically, for a time in the 90s.

Might make a 2001 poll. It'd probably just be Still Dre leading by a ton though.

  18. RBX has the best lines on the entire album. His solo stuff is only so-so but he absolutely stole songs he would appear on as cameos.

I just don't like the sound of his voice. Sounds like a molester. And no I wouldn't say that to his face.
