What songs do you consider to be the best of the late 90s/early 2000s pop?

Here's one I'd put on my list:

    http://youtu.be/TG8IkUoZ6j0 - O-Town - All Or Nothing

  2. Hokeyboy

    Hokeyboy Nudnik of Dinobots

You know, maybe not the BEST pop song of the era... or maybe it is... but The Backstreet Boys's "I Want It That Way" was the "How Deep Is Your Love" of its era. :righton:

You know, in all seriousness, I think they were a very talented group with very good songs. 'I Want It That Way' is a classic.

The sleeper here that very few heard was M2M's "Don't Say You Love Me," an obscure song by a female Norwegian pop duo. Unbelievably catchy. (The link is a crap mono foldown; trust me, the correct stereo mix is great.)

    I prefer today's music over the late 90's / early 00's

Rock was pretty much dead after the grunge-hype. Nothing but boring popballads, powerballads and some girl/boybands.

Here are some popdance classics that made it to the top of the charts:

    Superfunk: Lucky Star
D-Note: Shed My Skin - Pete Heller Stylus Radio Edit
    Scoop: Drop It
    Ian Pooley: Coracao Tambor
Moloko: Sing it Back - Boris Dlugosch Radio Edit
    Quadran: Unlovable
    Nalin & Kane: Beachball
    Phats & Small: Turn Around
Rolando aka The Aztec Mystic: Jaguar
Armand Van Helden feat. Duane Harden: You Don't Know Me
    Niels Van Gogh: Pulverturm
BBE: Seven Days and One Week
Chicane feat. Maire Brennan: Salt Water
    Tiefschwarz: Original Music
    Basement Jaxx: Romeo
Kylie Minogue: Can't Get You Out Off My Head
    iiO: Rapture

  17. Just thought of a few more...

    Jewel - Foolish Games

    Shania Twain - Up

Shania Twain - It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing

    Sarah McLachlan - Sweet Surrender

Marc Anthony - You Sang To Me

    Blondie - Maria

    Blondie - Double Take

    Blondie - Under The Gun

Creed - With Arms Wide Open

Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out Of My Head

Well to be perfectly honest, I've hated most top 40 pop since the late 1980s, but a few songs that were played quite a bit during the turn of the millennium I really liked which I don't think have been mentioned:

Spiller (w. Sophie Ellis-Bextor) - Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) - great catchy song with a revivalist disco beat
U2 - Beautiful Day - heard it a lot during the Sydney Olympics and during a period of renewed happiness in my life after a few years of mostly misery and disappointment, so naturally I have a bit of nostalgic fondness towards it
The A-Teens - Dancin' Queen - nicely done cover, obviously not as good as the original, but was the song that seriously got me into Abba which can only be a good thing!
The Corrs - What Can I Do

BTW, what is the best sounding late 90's/early 2000's pop cd? Anything audiophile-worthy?
