Don't know if they have been mentioned in this thread already, apologies if so, but surely Wolfmother fit the description of the opening post?

You get 70's hard rock and an intro by a 70's icon to boot.

Nebula-Heavy Psych is a modern classic in my humble opinion. Just a great record.

My good friends have a three-piece called Manson's Girls. They have a self released 12" EP and an upcoming LP in April.

Although this band has some Power Pop running through its veins, some of Datura4's songs would seem to qualify:

  13. Been digging Slow Season, whose angle is Zep, rather than Sabbath, and this has resulted in solid vocals, riffs, and a general tightness and clarity in songwriting that seems to want to be heard rather emulate some bonggone era.

They have a new one out next month, the opener "Vipassana" is out there now, sounds pretty cool. You might also like Christian Peters solo project under the name Surya Kris Peters. The Hermit last year collected some of his previous download only releases into a full-length, and he just released a new one called Holy Holy Holy. Much more ambient compared to Samsara Blues Experiment, but really nice when you're in that kind of mind ...

And it's available on Bandcamp. Easy purchase. Easy download. In lossless.
Long Distance Trip, by Samsara Blues Experiment

I'm listening to it now. I like this. Sound quality is good. Music is good. DR for the album is mostly 10. It's not crushed. The music flows like stoner music should.

I just wish the sound had more depth in the soundstage. It's a bit more flat than I would prefer. Has bit bit more of a hole or gap in the center than I would perfer. A DR10 can have more soundstage depth than this. I'm getting overly picky. Compared to modern mastering this sound is 3D holographic. I just wish it was better. Better depth and better filled in center. Wish they had used a Pacific Microsnoics HDCD AD converter to do the album. Otherwise the sound and depth is very good, just not good enough to get me to say it's excellent on headphones.

Lots of great new discoveries thanks to this thread - thank you guys!

I was surprised to see no reference to Dead Meadow, however, who fit this label to a tee. They've even done a Song Remains the Same-style movie album, called Three Kings, which is well worth checking out!

They rule, anything on riding easy records fits the bill. Also people in this thread need to check out the brown acid compilations they put out, all lost private press heavy rock/psych from the 60s and 70s and any one song on 45 will run you more than the price of all 3 volumes of the series

Cry Of Love. My first impression when when I heard their "Brother" album was Humble Pie - if Robin Trower, rather than Clem Clempson, had replaced Frampton. BTW, I think that "Brother" is a fabulous album. I like that stuff. :)
