I'd also throw in Corrosion Of Conformity post Blind album into the stoner style category also. Deliverance and Wiseblood are great albums.

I love the "A New Day Dawning" CD. If you like them check out Witchflower by Wicked Minds. Tons of Hammond Organ, very Heepish.

I think the Buffalo Killers are the type of band you're looking for.

Is Black Stone Cherry included in this group? I saw them open for Skynyrd and Bad Company a while back and before that had never heard of em.

You guys really think of The Black Crows as stoner rock? I think they're a pretty good update of the Stones/Faces sound, but they don't sound stoner to me. But I only ever owned their first album so maybe they changed. Won't be long before people come here listing any band they like to toke to and label them stoner rock. That's usually how these threads play out anyway.

Black Mountain - my fave band of the 21st century.
Another nod to Blood Ceremony as well.
For stoner metal check out Orchid.

If you like Led Zeppelinish sounding stuff that isn't just copycat style, check out a band called The Want on Southern Lord Records. The name of the disc is called Greatest Hits Vol. 5. It's from the 90's and is one of my favorites. Singer sounds like the dude in Fastway kind of.

I was recently turned on to Black Mountain and they completely blow me away. Huge, huge fan of Blood Ceremony and Orchid as well.

Orchid is great. Through The Devil's Doorway and Capricorn kick ass. I'd say they were more of a doom metal retro band. I gotta check out Black Mountain!

No they are retro, not stoner. The retro stuff is the purpose of the thread. Bands that get mislabeled as "Stoner Rock" that are just continuing in the tradition of the 1970's. I've noticed already a lot of people are just listing stoner bands, which was not my intention at all.

    Gotcha!

Well here's a track from Italy's Wicked Minds. They should call themselves Uriah Purple because the vocalist sounds just like David Byron (with accented vocals) and the keyboardist and guitarist are dead ringers for Ken Hensley and Mick Box respectively. Lots of Deep Purple style sounds too and they do a nice cover of "Solder of Fortune"; much better than the new Whitesnake fiasco.

I love that band and that album. I replied to someone else and mentioned them. The guy liked Sienna Root whom I also dig.

Have you heard Sideburn yet? I think they are on the Transubstans label. Really good groove laden stuff.
