I get the sense that Bad, Bad Leroy Brown could probably knock the snot out of Big Bad John, and I prefer the Croce tune, but the Jimmy Dean tune sounds badder. So, I didn't vote...

Leroy couldn't beat Doris's husband even with a .32 gun and a razor in his shoe and now looks like a jigsaw puzzle with a couple of pieces gone.

There's no way Leroy Brown beats Big John!

Leroy Brown is smaller, wears fancy clothes and has a lot of city in him. Drivers a Lincoln and a Caddy, and carries a pistol because he can't count on his fists. Plus, he got beat by a scub in the song.

Big John, on the other hand, is bigger, a coal miner, quiet, yet he killed a guy with one punch. One. Punch. Moreover, there's no bragging in John. He gave his life to save 20 men by holding up a friggin' cave-in, for chrissakes! That's a lot of rock!

Big John would pulverize Leroy Brown, and pick his teeth with Leroy's bones, before clocking in at the coalmine.
