A fairly solid week with an impressive top five IMO. You can pick as many as you want.

Not much to cheer for IMHO. I would rank Vacation, Tainted Love, REO and Human League 1-2-3-4.

I'd pick most of that list. I liked (and still do) much of what was Top 40 (USA) in 1982.

Music started to slide for me at this point
All I can think of is MTV music videos with these songs :nyah:

Abracadabra is Steve Miller copying John Lennon's brilliant guitar work from his very last contribution to music from Yoko's Walking on Thin Ice

I personally think the pickings were pretty feeble by this time. I do like the Motels' hits though.

This was an absolute magical time in my life (I as 17- 18 in October). I met my first 'real' girlfriend in line for CSN tickets around this time; just graduated high school; started playing professionally in bands, and so on.
So I have more of an emotional attachment to these songs than a critical opinion!
So I tried hard to be more critical of my choices and could only pick 5!
Hold Me, Don't You Want Me, Only The Lonely, Wasted On The Way (of course!), and Take It Away (of course!).

(A Spotify playlist of these tunes would transport me right back- but I wouldn't want to STAY there.......)

I would say this is a piss poor chart, only Human League and Soft Cell for me.

  13. SixOClockBoos

SixOClockBoos The Man On The Flaming Pie

Those are my picks too except I'll swap Vacation with Rosanna.

Human League and Soft Cell. The rest are blander than a blancmange.

I picked everything except 1, 5, 8, ad 24. "Don't You Want Me" and "Tainted Love" had been hits up here earlier in the year and were already out of the charts by late July.

What a wonderful chart. Of the ones I've heard, even the stuff I don't love, I like!

    My favourites are:

    Survivor
    Toto
    Steve Miller Band
    Chicago
    Air Supply
    REO Speedwagon
    Crosby, Stills & Nash
    Juice Newton
    38 Special
    Journey
    Rick Springfield.

I haven't heard the songs by:

    The Motels
    The Dazz Band
    The Go Gos
    Stevie Wonder
    Paul McCartney
    Gap Band
    Rolling Stones

The Canadian chart is strong too.

An excellent week. I voted for 14 songs!
We were traveling across the country at this time and I remember staying with friends and there was this channel I'd never heard of called MTV. I think I saw the videos for most of these songs during the two days we visited them.
