I think he basically got tired of the crap roles he was being offered and went off to live on a stunning ranch in Montana. He's an avid fly fisherman and outdoorsman, also seems like kind of a loaner. There was a great piece on him on last week's CBS Sunday Morning.

I'm very happy he's doing more work, been a fan since 'Mr. Mom'! His appearances on the old Letterman show were always golden as well. His part on the very funny 'The Other Guys' was icing as well! Very excited for 'Birdman'.

Birdman just may end up being my favorite movie of the year. It's beautiful, incredibly audacious, brilliant, and has just about everything I could ask for from a film. It has a lot to say about art and being an artist. The cinematography is top notch, making great use of incredibly long takes and fully utilizing the steadicam in creative ways. All the actors give great performances, Keaton and Norton really shine and it's great to see them both doing great work in what feels like a really long time. The story is filled with a lot of great moments giving all the characters depth and never drags, and it never becomes overly serious or miss the mark with its' jokes.

A great time at the movies here.

Glad to see he's not just taking any old crap script that comes his way...

Saw it, enjoyed it, didn't have a clue what it was about.

Some great performances by the entire cast, but it was at least as opaque as "Syndoche, New York", though a lot more enjoyable. But the fact that I was marveling at the long steadicam shots means that the story didn't involve me enough.

Thematically or plot wise? I thought it was pretty straightforward.

I followed the plot just fine, but the division between fantasy and reality was never clear.

I wasn't sure what the significance was of the telekinetic powers he had, or imagined having... Was this something the Birdman character was able to do?

My wife surprised me with a Seattle jaunt Saturday that included catching this.

I am a huge fan of the director, and Birdman did not disappoint, topping Nightcrawler to be my favorite 2014 film I've seen.

This will definitely get some GG/Oscar buzz, especially for cinematography. It's done like one long take.

Plus, the academy already digs the director. Remember the surprising amount of attention Babel received?

I was worried going in as I found Inarritu's Babel and 21 Grams to be nothing more than Oscar bait (still haven't seen Amores Perros). I'm glad I went - one of my two favorite films of the past five years. It reminds me of All That Jazz where life and art blend due to inner demons. The performances are very theatrical rather than the normal movie, but that's intentional and welcoming. I'm in awe of the camerawork, both from a technical standpoint as well as how it served the story. Keaton's really good, but Norton's comedy work is outstanding.
