One: I dunno from Bird Man. No expectations. Michael Keaton?

Two: You are sitting Row A, Center. Sometimes you are sitting on stage.

Three: This film is vibrant, alive, compelling!

Four: Cinematography, art direction, STAGE DIRECTION, is wonderful.

Five: At times you are part of the action gliding with the camera.

Six: Stage acting personae is the call. This is not really a film.

Seven: Oskies all around. This could be the movie of the year.

Eight: The storyline runs a tight parallel to Keaton's own career.

Nine: Keaton is back armed with new dramatic chops.

Ten: Did I say Oskies all around, yet?

    Looks quite compelling.
As a side note: Also love the creative typographical animation on the end credits.

I'm in total agreement with you. The theatrical aspect of the acting, and the kind of "staged" quality of the whole thing, will either be a positive or a negative for people, but it's too well made to dismiss, no matter your perspective. I don't know that I can embrace it completely, but the sum of its parts is very enjoyable. Certainly better than Babel, which I found to be absolute pretentious nonsense. I kept thinking of Cuaron, too, because of the unbroken-take gimmick, er, technique. That kind of camera work serves this story very well since it mirrors the main character's mercurial mood and state of mind. Even though it stands front and center in the story and arguably pulls you out of the film, it runs parallel enough with Keaton's character's reality/fantasy shifts that I can excuse even that as a commentary on the act of making movies. I feel it's far more effective than in something like Children of Men, which I confess I still don't care for. Not a perfect film by any means, but it accomplished what it set out to do, and everyone on screen looks like they're having a hell of a good time. And the jazz drum score is wonderful.

No pun intended, but was getting a bit of vertigo what with all the cameraman running around & time shift.

Saw it with my wife, I love this movie, her not so much. For me, a lot of this movie mirrors Micheal Keatons life. Just replace Birdman with Batman and you get an actor who made two
Comic book superhero movies and then started doing serious movies. Not counting the classic "Beatlejuice". I'll be buying this movie when the home version is released, I can watch it
    multiple times, it's that good.

Saw this movie tonight. I can't tell you how exhilarating, exciting, creative and hilarious it was. Absolutely loved it. Best film I've seen this year. Terrific.

I thought it was very good, though not as good as the reviews seem to suggest. To me, the way it was filmed all to often called attention to itself and got in the way of the story being told.

Overall I liked it but didn't love it. Strong cast with terrific performances. Didn't like the ending (the last couple of minutes) & hated the jazz drumming soundtrack.

I was initially put off by the "one take" structure because the pattern dictated that whenever we entered a room there was always going to be some significant drama going down. (OK, here we go again w/ more over-the-top theater chaos.) It did have some truly inspired moments. I think I prefer the direction of Russian Ark where it's all a single take, but unfolds at a slower pace.

Saw it tonight. I thought it was going to be funnier than it was, while my wife and friends found it funnier than they expected.

I thought it was ok; I still need some time to digest it.

OK, I Googled and didn't find anything, so I'll ask here: What is the deal with those brief shots of a fiery comet, dead animals on a beach with seagulls flying over them, and a marching band onstage with Spider-Man? They were shown twice: right at the beginning and just before the last scene (maybe the marching band/Spider-Man one was just in the second instance). They're really noticeable because they're the only exception to the "one continuous shot" style; I'm surprised no one seems to have mentioned it anywhere at all.

Also, the opening quote from Raymond Carver has beloved misspelled as "belovrd." I have to think that was deliberate, but to what end?
