Anyone watch the pilot episode. My 17 year old son and I were impressed. Some really nice acting from some great actors. Reminded us more of the Netflix Marvel shows than the CW shows, which is a compliment. The outfit was pretty dicey though.

I thought it was very enjoyable, and I kind of liked the outfit!

I'm digging it. Seems just a bit more "mature" than the other CW things, and the music is really good.

I still haven't seen the show (I keep meaning to get caught up via On Demand, but haven't had time to do so yet) but I've been reading the current Black Lightning comic book series ("Cold Dead Hands") and it's good stuff.

Yeah, more mature and more rounded - better sense of place/community that means more seems at stake than in the rest of the shows on CW.

My 17 year old son And I are still liking it, but so far we agree that every episode has gotten a little worse. Not a good trend, but the show is still enjoyable

This show got great reviews. But the audience doesn't seem to like it

I'm wondering if the phenomenal Black Panther success will give Black Lightning a surge in viewers?

They are both similar in that they both have very strong female characters and both Pather and Lightning have very positive messaging about the black community that has a ring of authenticity.

    Mantis was 100 percent better.

Yeah I'll definitely get the DVD box. Terrible IMDb reviews...so what.
Was disappointed with Black Panther, BL looks more my thang.

Got Black Lightning season 1 box, really good soul soundtrack. Fast paced DC show like The Flash, more adult themed though.

The second season hasn't been as good as the first, but I still find it very entertaining

Read some other IMDb reviews saying its better. I could see Idris Elba doing the movie version.

Black Panther’s more like The Lion King in comparison.

Yes, a Disney movie that used "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" in its trailer

I've read enough about the film to know that the appropriation pervades it quite thoroughly. Also, the IMDb reviews of Black Lightning are weighed down by a definite, boisterous subsection. But we're getting outside the scope here

Black Lightning is like a superhero The Wire.

Fun, disposal stuff. The show will obviously never delve into the causes of inner city problems (actually, the school is clearly suburban), which are the entire country's problems and would add some dimension to the storylines, but the surface conflicts are interesting. I like German born, Cress Williams, as BL. The show is dark, though; not really for kids, imo. Loving the throwback soundtrack.
