Black Sails, Starz network show

Watched season one.
Dissapointed.
Region 2 no subtitles.
Found it boring.
No Deadwood.

 

How is the entire series? Worth watching? Starz was just made available in Canada for the first time.

 

I loved Black Sails, very underrated show in my opinion. It has a lot of the typical premium cable t**s and a**, and violence, but beyond that I thought it was very well done, a lot of strong and memorable characters. Toby Stephens as Flynt is particular great, very strong performance from start to finish.

 

Yes! It gets better. 7/10 ie watchable.

You may even like it better than I did. Nice take on R.L Stevenson prequel to Treasure Island.

 

I thoroughly enjoyed this show, and it ended nicely, too.

Great cast and sets, plenty of T&A too !

A fun show for sure

 

Just started re-watching this from the beginning. I saw the first three seasons as they aired on Starz, but didn't have cable any longer when the final season came around. Just got the whole series to stream and since it had been so long, I decided to start from the beginning and have just finished S1. Anyone else watching this recently?

 

Big fan here! Although the story faltered from time to time, I really enjoyed it. Intelligent, action-packed, and oh so beautiful to look at!

 

I'm six episodes in. It's good but not great. I enjoy the actors. One annoying thing is the male gym bodies though. It looks ridiculous.

 

First season is the weakest. Gets better and better. I liked it very much.

 

Finally after 6 years...now halfway through season 3.

Really like it. Season 2 was a tad annoying with the "OFFS just get on with it and get that damn gold!" Plus as mentioned a few talky episodes that kind of killed the pacing a little but probably more due to necessity as action sequences cost far more to shoot.

Worth a look. Also if you have Netflix watch the Pirate Documentary series that was put on there recently as it works as a good primer. We watched that then decided to watch Black Sails.

 

I keep hoping the producers will return to this "world" years on, and do a take on the actual "Treasure Island" storyline.
