The 4 Disc Box Set
The 3-Disc Digibook
Boxed Set Revealed
Pricing and Release Dates
One of my favorite movies - as much as I don't need another copy of BR I may have to get the box just for that book!
A few months ago I noticed all versions had gone out of print and were getting pricey. Glad I waited - this is #1 on my "wanted" list for BR titles. I'm not sure if I want the huge box with a toy car, though....
Edit - only one of the OP's posted pics is coming through - the box with car, book, etc.
I'll pass. I've yet have to watch all the different movie cuts in the first Blu-ray release set.
I may be tempted to pick this up if the price goes down a bit. I have read that the original HD releases were mastered for 25GB discs; which makes me wonder if it makes a difference in picture quality if they go with the full capacity for this edition. :/
I like my five disc HD-DVD "Void-Comp" suitcase set. It has a little plastic car too. And an origami unicorn. This looks to add a booklet. Not interested, but it will be a cool set for those that didn't get the last deluxe Blade Runner set.
I have the DVD briefcase set and the Blu-ray five banger. I'm set.
I wonder how many people are monied enough to double dip on this set just for the book. I have the Voit-Kamp box too and won't buy this just for the book . . .
Yeah, I waited too long too. Kept putting it off until it was too late then saw the same crazy prices. Does this new set include all the same movie versions? Wasn't the old set 5 discs? Is there content missing since this one appears to be only 4 discs?
Can we use the words..market churn and exploiting?
And I think we won't get a new higher-bit encode, hav a look at the adds, specially at the Dolby True-HD logos, when was the last time Warner didn't use DTS Master Audio for a new release?
Unless the price goes down I'm Blade'd out...
I think Blade Runner is still about $30 million or so in the hole so this will make back a hundred grand of that, if they are lucky.
Pass, I already got my 4 dvd disc set .
It's got enough features.
I am sure you can buy a making of Blade Runner book or magazine
Warners bros in search of more money
Book, and not a bad one at that.
I bought the 2007 5-Disc Complete Collector's Edition and am very happy with it, still one of the best home video releases I've ever owned.
The book looks interesting but I'll pass on this. Still, it's good to see it's seeing some re-release love.
And Paul Sammon's book was (and still is) a great companion to the movie!
DVD, HD-DVD and BR....no thanks
I checked ebay, there are plenty of buy nows on there
blu ray to standard dvd and couple suit deluxe ones too.
Amazon has alot crappy scalpers on there.
I got House and House 2 the horror movies OOP $7.00
I'd say much better than just "not a bad one" - I thought it was great!
Paul Sammon's book was excellent. The weird thing was: it didn't come out until many years after the movie was released (1996!). I have no idea why it was held up for so long, because he clearly did interviews and photographs right on the set during production.
I actually enjoyed his book more than I did the movie!
I concur. I am currently reading the book as a matter of fact since I purchased it and had it signed by Sammon at the Comic Con this last weekend. So far, it's been great! I am at the chapter where the actual drama between Ford and Scott occur.
Future Noir is the Blade Runner Bible! It is excellent.
There's a version of Sammon's book from the UK which is slightly updated, but really a 3rd edition is needed to cover the Final Cut.
You can also find a deleted chapter online (cut to make the already massive book a bit shorter).
There's an interview with Sammon where he describes what went wrong with that 2007 UK edition of the book, and he also talks about what he did for the BluRay set: http://media.bladezone.com/contents/film/noir/the2ndcut2.php
