I'd like to see them remove all the extraneous (to me, and I'm not alone) add-ons and release the Mitchell lp as a standalone, for a reasonable price, e.g. $30-$35. The last thing I need is more box set junk stuff filling up my closets.

Yes, and here all this time we thought at Blue Note, there was no room for squares.

The box is too expensive but really great. Flawless pressings and excellent sound.

I received the first box today and sent this email to Blue Note. I thought I’d share:

I think for $200 there are a few things that could be improved for the next installment.

For the cost I would expect that the LPs would be in static free sleeves. The paper sleeves cheapen the experience and true vinyl collectors will have to use their own static free sleeves, as I have.

The Blue Mitchell cover on the back, top right corner, isn’t glued properly and the paper is slightly wrinkled.

Also on the Blue Mitchell LP there is no spine, meaning when it’s on my shelf, you can’t read the title as it’s not printed on the spine. Again I feel this “cheapens” the product experience.

I bought the set as it was recommended by Michael Fremer on his AnalogPlanet YouTube page, and I trust his judgement.

Each annual Newvelle subscription is 6 albums. For the 2017 series, they sent a bonus album recorded by one of Newvell's founders.

Blue Note has some 80th anniversary festivities planned, from a recent interview of Don Was,...

"We have the 80th anniversary of the label coming up, and we’re planning to announce a very big vinyl campaign towards the end of the year. For our 75th anniversary we did 100 titles that were priced under $20. We tried to keep it reasonable so people could take a chance. We’ll be doing more of that, but also some extensive audiophile things."

    In the 1940's, '50's, '60's yeah.
But in 2018? Sure thing, they liked to spread the "word" too.

Volume two out in December. Includes Africaine by Art Blakey and Patterns by Bobby Hutcherson, both all analog and handled by Music Matters' Joe Harley.

I got that email today. They didn’t mention if there would be a CD as was in volume, one replicating all the music on vinyl. Did I miss something?

The CD in Vol 1 did not replicate all the music on vinyl.

    Ok. Very helpful.
I haven't looked at the set in months.
But there was a cd. Question still stands.

V0l. 2 has a CD of 60+ minutes, the music on the compilation Lp, but not the two reissue Lp's.

They may still have Vol. 1 available. Despite being described as sold out on the website, I subscribed to BNR two weeks ago (thinking I was signing up for Vol. 2 forward) and unexpectedly received Vol. 1 a few days later.

This Blue Note Subscription Series is a crime. They should have learned from "Music Matters" on how to please the Blue Note Fans.

This second set looks to be a huge step up from the first one (which I still think was fairly well done). Given what's in it – I feel like it's good value for the money.
