So based on previous BSxx deluxe sets we can expect this to drop around £20-40 between now and release day?

I'd say yes, it's been the trend lately that it'll drop a bit between now and Nov 2.

And if you're in the US and are willing to wait until after release day, you'll probably be able to find a deal around Black Friday/Cyber Monday. A look at that pricing history chart for the deluxe Trouble No More box shows that it's usually in the $120 range, but dropped briefly to $100 last year during that time.

Very, very interested in the CD deluxe. It’s my most cherished Bob album, but 160 for 6 CDs is way to much for me, even with the package.

Pricing. Deluxe is pitched as a limited edition, collectible, historic artifact.

This will definitely be a weird one. I don't know how to tackle it. After The Cutting Edge, I'm not sure that I can sit and listen to take after take of the same song, especially songs that (generally) kind of all sound the same. My mind will probably wander pretty quickly. But, I'm also very interested in the nuances between takes. I may have to take it slow for the first couple of weeks.

Love this Take 1 of IYSH. The video is great as well.

So the album versions are now remastered at proper speed, but the only way to purchase "the remastered BOTT" is to buy the recordings scattered throughout a limited deluxe box?

Why wouldn't they have made a 2CD package with the remastered/corrected official album on one disc and the prime alternate versions from the box on the other disc? That would also give the "corrected" album an official, distinct, accessible home without the question of whether it should replace the original version in the catalog. They surely won't ever have 2 different single-disc versions on the market, but it's hard to believe that this will be the only home, ever, for the remasters of the original album recordings.

Because if they did that only about 15 people would buy the deluxe version. Same for (not) including the test pressing takes.

Then don't. The discs aren't meant to be an entertaining listening experience. These are historical artifacts. Take it whatever way you can.

So if BD.com got out of the shipping biz for this one and outsourced to Amazon, this thing probably isn't going to drop in price all that much, is it? Looks straight MSRP.

Then what's the point? Genuine question. If they are not going to be enjoyable but are just meant to be filed away and examined by academics, why make them so widely available?

I ask because I have thoroughly enjoyed almost all of the BS releases so far, the one exception being the other one that took this approach. I almost feel as though these forensic session based examinations need to be part of a seperate stand alone series of their own, rather than under the BS banner.

To be fair, Jeff Rosen probably agrees with you to some extent. The Rolling Stone "source" said this set is less interesting to him than the more curated Gospel one, because it's mainly "process".

You can always buy the cheaper digital download version and pick out the best bits, which is what I may end up doing if the price doesn't drop by about £40-50.
It can't hurt to have everything available.

Given the nature of hardcore Dylan fans as I occasionally visit in threads, I find that hard to believe, but I could be way off. I find it harder to believe that a remastered/corrected version of an all-time classic album is going to reside only in pieces in an out-of-print deluxe box.

They could rectify that with a standalone CD release in a year or so, but I guess I'd be most surprised if they actually made it the new retail BOTT and took the original mastering out of print. This speed issue and the alternate takes gave them the perfect opportunity to let both versions coexist in perpetuity via legitimately different packages.

There’s also a hardcover book featuring notes by rock historian Jeff Slate and a reproduction of one of Dylan’s three Blood on the Tracks notebooks that includes page after page of his original handwritten drafts from the era, including many that he never attempted in the studio

Bob Dylan / More Blood, More Tracks: The Bootleg Series Vol 14 | superdeluxeedition

    Blood On The Tracks deluxe • 6CD • 70 unreleased recordings • 2LP vinyl

Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings will release in November, the Bob Dylan box set that fans have really been waiting for. More Blood, More Tracks: The Bootleg Series Vol. 14 will be available as a six-CD set that includes “every surviving take” (including the complete New York sessions) from the 1974 studio recordings made by Bob Dylan which resulted in his 1975 classic Blood On The Tracks.

Described by the label as a ‘strictly limited’ deluxe set, this six-disc package features alternate versions of ‘Tangled Up In Blue’ , ‘Simple Twist Of Fate’ and ‘Shelter From The Storm’ and offers up a total of over 70 previously unreleased recordings! The 6CD deluxe of More Blood, More Tracks (there is also a 2LP vinyl and a single CD edition) includes the complete New York sessions in chronological order, including outtakes, false starts and ‘studio banter’.

The reissue producers have worked from best sources available, in most cases utilising the original multi-track session tapes. The only recordings remaining from the Minneapolis sessions are the multi-track masters of the five performances included on the finished Blood On The Tracks album, although these have been remixed and remastered for the deluxe edition.

Packaging looks to be consistent with previous Bootleg Series deluxe editions and features a hardcover book with sleeve notes by Jeff Slate, photographs, and most excitingly a complete reproduction of one of Dylan’s legendary handwritten 57 page notebooks, where you can follow the lyrical development of the songs that would eventually comprise Blood On The Tracks.

More Blood, More Tracks: The Bootleg Series Vol 14 will be released on 2 November 2018
