I hope my bankbook is big enough for this set.

While we're on the subject of terrible titles, how about Blonde On Blonde? If this title is accurate, or if it isn't, it will cease to matter once we're talking about what's on the inside.

I didn't like the title for volume 13... :hide:

Thankfully, it didn't have any effect on my overall enjoyment.

Maybe Bob will change his mind and title it “If You Want Blood You Got It”.

That title is terrible, but I made my peace with it long ago!

But aside from that, frankly I don't know why they think they need to give these Bootleg Series collections titles in the first place. It should be obvious to them at this point that the volumes' main value is as pure unadulterated historical documents, not as albums on their own that can be tied up nicely with a bow of cohesion and a snazzy title to match. I think it should be volume number and description only, ideally. But they'll continue to do what they do, and of course I won't get too annoyed as long as the contents continue to be good. I just object to the little titles because they make it seem like the people making those decisions don't even understand this project, really.

It has only dawned on me in the past month or so, despite being familiar with the album title for almost 15 years, that the "tracks" could be the songs, and not train tracks.

Of course, as a dumb kid who used to hang out on the train tracks, I understand why I took it that way.

If this is all just BoTT then it also means your prediction for a big RTR live box some time might be true - no overlap with this set to compete against. That would be very exciting!

My guess is that it'll be called "The Bootleg Series Vol. 14: More Blood, More Tracks", and I hereby claim my free copy. Thanks to @asdf35 for being so generous with the offer. :)

I'm OK this time around. I recently inherited a million bucks...

Well, I was going to take my wife to Italy next week while Springtime turns slowly into Autumn but I've cancelled the trip just in case fiction becomes fact...

    Right!

The heady early days of the internet!
Rumors abound that Dylan had actually recorded his own sons again from MN during a forced tour break from the weather.

I received a cassette copy of “Stormy Season” which later turned out to be “Time Out of Mind.”

For a short time that cassette was the most valued thing I owned. It was like hidden treasure.

My guess is ‘74-‘76 with even more stripper down takes from MN (“Blood on the Taoes”) with their stark cold painful lyrics. Then some Rolling Thunder gems.

If Dylan is anything, he’s a surprise. I think we will all hear things we’ve not heard before.

Isn't there a version (live or rehearsal) where he sings "a million ducks"?

Next to the new Petty compilation promo on iTunes is an album from the band (in prominent type on the cover) Big Red Machine. Did a double take when I saw it. Then a chuckle. Then a sigh.

    Over on Twitter, @abienen observed:

“Eons ago, Paul Nelson wrote about Neil Young's "ZUMA" in Rolling Stone, and described the album as being like "BLOOD ON THE TRACKS but with more blood and more tracks."

    Andy Bienen on Twitter

Could this title be a tongue-in-cheek reference to that review? Paul Nelson was definitely on Dylan's radar. Sort of like if instead of Another Self Portrait, they had titled BS10 That's What This **** Is.

  24. Big Red Machine could be a great album.Collaboration between Justin Vernon(Bon Iver) and Aaron Dessner from The National. Here in the 21st century I'm looking forward to it as much as More Blood More Tracks.
