Bob Dylan – Bootleg Series Vol. 14: More Blood, More Tracks (2 Nov 2018)*

Discussion in 'Music Corner' started by Dave Gilmour's Cat, Nov 2, 2016.

  1. Not sure, but they say it’s being printed right now and I assume they’ll try to get it out to their subscribers as soon as possible.

Yes now we all know that BOTT had a live shot on the cover.

If that's the final cover art, it seems odd that the lettering and coloring is so retro 80s. More Empire, More Burlesque!

Agreed. And on first glimpse that pic looks like something taken from the stage at Bobfest in 1992.

I have no doubt it is genuine.

It's not clear at all where the image is from. The person who posted on Twitter says he "saw it very briefly while scrolling through twitter, was deleted shortly thereafter." Who knows but sounds a bit dodgy.

Well, maybe the pink and orange lettering is an obscure reference or a call-back to something beyond my imagination... No matter, it's the tracklist on the back that I primarily look at.

I'm amused by the covers for the ongoing series. They've been a bit unexpected.

I hope that's not cover art and I hope that's not the title.

    The correct title should be

Blood On the Tracks: The Annotated Edition.

I'm not sure either....But what does that upper-left text say? It was significant enough to be color-coded.

Based on that font I'd say it's true they've had this release in the can for a loong, loooong time.

Best I can do. ("A source close to the Dylan camp" is probably laughing his head off at us for doing this.)

If the sleeve art had been displayed without the notebook, I'd say "fake", or "Bob's been having another go at Photoshop." (Or Photoart or whatever it's called). The notebook seems to give it credence though.

The notebooks we had been looking at are Bob's everyday "scribbling" notebooks, with scraps of lyrics, notes and diarized reminders. The legendary Blood on the Tracks "little red notebook", which he took to the sessions and which Clinton mentions in his books, contains the draft lyrics for eight of the songs (as well as seven others) transcribed / culled from these scribbling notebooks. It should be neater, more organised, than the scribbling books, but ultimately less interesting (at least for the released tracks).

The notebook on the easel on the Twitter post does look to be a little neater than those above but I think it is still a scribbling book, possibly the same one containing the ideas for "Tangled Up In Blue" and "Horse Thief"; it looks to me as though the binding ring at the bottom has been restored. It is definitely the same size as that one. Whatever, it is opened at pages that we haven't seen before and it is undoubtedly Bob's writing. Just too out of focus to make out the song(s).

Field Commander Rhodes was our most important spy. I can sorta see "recordings." Now I'm straining my eyes to see "complete album sesssions"

Not sue I’ve seen that particular photo before but I believe it may be from Boston 1974, taken by Ron Pownall.

The original tweet that include the photo has been deleted (this link goes to someone who nabbed it quickly). Seems it wasn't supposed to go live quite yet.
