Working my way through the “Complete Basement Tapes” 6-cd box set I just received today. This will keep me occupied for the long Thanksgiving weekend.
I listened to Planet Waves earlier. At first it was just to hear Rick Danko's fretless bass sound, inspired by the fretless bass thread. But this is a great album - Going Going Gone and Dirge are among Dylan's best works IMO.
I'm listening to Bob live in Santa Cruz, 3/16/00; finished listening to the 3/15/00 show before this. CD-Rs from FLAC files converted to WAV.
Yup. These days, we often end up re-purchasing tracks we already own when releases such as these become available. But back in 1986, I only had a few Dylan albums and this comp was the perfect mix of unreleased gems and released masterpieces. I own Biograph in cassette (original purchase), CD and LP formats and I listen to all of them on various devices often. The gold standard for boxed sets.
I have to listen to that album sparingly. The atmosphere from this album feels very melancholy, gloomy feel to it.
That's what Dylan captures so brilliantly. I mean like what you like and no complaints, but that record is as good as Dylan gets.
Welp, Amazon Prime is about to run out. So I'm about to snag Oh Mercy real quick before time runs out
Time Out Of Mind - Bob Dylan (Columbia) CD A seriously crucial 90s Dylan album. "I'm listening to Neil Young" / Oh yeah!
I just got a sealed copy of the 2001 mono reproduction of The Freewheelin Bob Dylan. It's incredible.
